I don't care if Brown Sugar is about heroin, its a bitchen tune! I would interpretate it to be about women if that meant he could play it! What am I saying, of course he could play it, its a matter of if he WOULD.

IMO there are better versions of that great song than Foghat's. Check out: Willy Dixon, Muddy Waters, Cold Blood, Etta James.

I would not consider Bad Co.'s "Seagull" obscure by anymeans.
Has anyone suggested the Alvin Lee's 'The Bluest Blues'? An all time favourite of mine and so so right for Joe's vocals and guitar.
In trying to think of a clever title for the new album I remembered one of my fave blues tracks "The Bluest Blues" from Alvin Lee. It would also be a great track for Joe to cover and I see that trdb has already beaten me to the suggestion.

It's guaranteed to break your heart. When you've listened to it once, listen again LOUD, it sounds even better. Then play it on your hi-fi and shake the windows (as I do 
) - your neighbours will love it.

I was lucky enough to see Jethro Tull recently and, for the first time live, heard them play We Used to Know.
It struck me after the show that this would be a perfect song for Joe to cover for a number of reasons:
- Good lyrics/simple but catchy tune
- A guitar solo that would lend itself perfectly to being Bonamassified
- A flowing chord progression that Ian Anderson claims may have been plagiarised by a young band called the Eagles who supported Tull way back in 1971 - Compare We Used to Know with Hotel California

- Because of the above, the song becomes very 'familiar' after a couple of listens
It would be great to hear Joe's version with possibly the few guitar solo 'borrowing' a few phrases from Hotel California; This would make ths little song cycle complete and who better than Joe to do it!
Or maybe when he's older.
How about opening the Albert Hall with Montrose's Good Rockin' Tonight...get the crowd on their feet in seconds!

Totally appropriate Deezer. Several ZZ Top songs are not about "it" but are perceived as being so....Legs is...Innuendo's abound however...

What's up suhl? You think I'm whining about sex? Gotta read my words. I was originally commenting on ZZ Top's Brown Sugar being inappropriate for Joe to cover. Legs IS about sex is all I was saying regarding that song specifically. Not about passing judgement on it being good or bad or nasty or vulgar. And again, songs by ZZ aren't always what you think! Tush is food, Tube Snake Boogie is surfing, and Brown Sugar is Mexican heroin...But you can insert innuendo anytime. I am all for vulgar sexuality expressed in ALL mediums! MY opinions only. I find it ridiculously foolish that we are "allowed" to see killing and violence-oriented "entertainment", most of it absurdly unrealistic, in content let alone the over blown perception of it being in preponderance when most everyone is NOT out doing violence this year or next or anytime soon for that matter....yet a glint of realistic sex, most people DO engage at least conversationally about it, everyone KNOWS of it's reality, yet all our media and mediums are only allowed a "certain threshold", which going above that bar gets a stamp of censorship-how ludicrous! It's like children's book level media publsihing! But I digress. If Joe's not going to use the "F"word lyrics for his own reason of keeping at a certain family entertainent level, even within the nasty blues genre, that's his business and self-censorship. Therefore a song about getting high on heroin is also likely to labeled inappropriate. For him. To release. That's what I meant.
