Topic: rock and blues custom festival cancelled

just seen that this festival has been cancelled.this year would have been the 25th anniversary of the festival.it has got bigger and bigger every year, people come from all over europe to see some brilliant bands and the custom bikes they have on show.it is a fantastic 3 day festival attended by a wide variety of people including familys.last year the scorpions headlined it ,this year they had glenn hughes, blackfoot, molly hatchet, budgie and many more lined up.the event is usually held at pentrich a small village in derbyshire but the organisers decided to move to a new venue because of flooding at the last 2 festivals.it was due to be held at catton hall in south derbyshire, but the police wrote a 5 page letter to the local council opposing the festival over concerns for public safety.in all the years it has been held there has never been any trouble, the people of pentrich never raised any concerns at all,in fact they welcomed the festival,it was run by volunteers and raised thousands of pounds for children charities.now because of an incident last year when a hells angel was shot dead by a member of the outlaws(a rival gang)the police have said they fear reprisals at the rock and blues festival which is organised by the outlaws.they have no proof of any threats and like i said there has been no trouble at the rock and blues festival or at the bulldog bash which is organised by the hells angels.the organisers where due to hear today if there application for a licence had been accepted, but they decided to withdraw the application, obviously due to pressure from the police.so once again REAL MUSIC lovers lose out.i wonder if they will take the licences of the nightclubs in the city centre where public disorder is rife every weekend,i don,t think so somehow, the idiots who go there are obviously no danger to the general public, not like those mean looking bikers eh?   stevea(disgusted)

Re: rock and blues custom festival cancelled

I've played at a few of these festivals....Kent Custom, Crazy Days, Bulldog Bash.....and I have to say that the atmosphere has always been great. The events have been well run without the slightest hint of trouble and it'd be a shame to see them being closed down. As you said stevea, we can have drunken monkeys running around the streets causing trouble at all hours of the night but we can't have a bikers bash can we.....just in case !!

Re: rock and blues custom festival cancelled

hi geoff thanks for taking the time to read my post.i was going to go this year my mate has been for the last 3 years and he says its bloody brilliant,i was really looking forward to it.why did,nt the police go around pentrich and the neighbouring villages and ask the residents their opinions,i can guarantee there would,nt have been anyone complaining.the majority of bikers look really mean but underneath they have hearts of gold,as shown by the way they have raised thousands for childrens charities over the years.the t***s that go to the nightclubs are more likely to steal and cause trouble but because bikers look different the police obviously think they are more of a threat   steve

This is a final statement from One Percent Entertainments Group concerning the organisation of the 25th Annual Rock & Blues Custom Show.

As of today the 28th May 2008 the event premises license as been re-issued to Amber Valley District Council and we fully intend to be moving the event back to its spiritual home of Coney Grey Showground Pentrich Derbyshire. One Percent Entertainments Group and its legal representatives will be fighting this license application all the way over previous representations made from the Derbyshire constabulary as to why we formerly withdrew our application for RBCS 25 at Catton Hall. Since then we feel those concerns do not exist. We would like to again thank the many thousands of people who have emailed their best wishes and continued support towards this 25th milestone event. We appreciate that lots of people have been confused about what as actually been going on in the background but it has been difficult due to legal reasons to fully explain everything but we want to thank everyone for their patience and we want to reassure anyone who has purchased tickets for this event that they will remain valid for the event which will take place on the same dates as previously advertised, which are 24th – 27th July 2008. One Percent Entertainments Group are completely and utterly dedicated to making RBCS 25 work and run again this year as one of the safest festivals in the UK and are drafting in some of the UK’s leading public entertainment specialist company’s in the country to ensure its smooth and orderly running, “no news there then, just business as usual”
We would like to remind the general public that this event has an impeccable safety record and in 24 years of history as never suffered any occasions of public disorder. The event website will be up and running again in its entirety later this week where you can keep up to date with developments as they happen.

I'm really glad it's back on, but am I understanding that the murder was not actually part of ANY event, except itself, and it just was in the town where it was planned???
