Topic: Ex Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart Drummer Mickey Waller Dies At 66

British drummer Mickey Waller has died from liver failure aged 66. Waller was a much in demand session musician during the 1960s and toured and recorded with many of that era’s seminal bands including Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and the Jeff Beck Group alongside Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood.

Waller was an intregal member of the early Jeff Beck Group, playing the drums on the classic 1968 album 'Truth'.

The instrumental, "Beck's Bolero", with Jimmy Page on rhythm guitar, The Who's Keith Moon on drums, and bassist John Paul Jones combined with Waller's own fiery playing on the remake of The Yardbirds' hit "Shapes of Things" to set the template for Heavy Blues.

Waller also became a regular fixture on many of Rod Stewart’s solo recordings including 1971’s
'Every Picture Tells A Story', the album which included "Maggie May".

Waller died on April 29th, 2008

Sad news. I'll go play some old Rod stuff I think.

Just sitting here, I can actually hear his drums on that album, in my head.  Indeed, RIP Mickey.

Also, I just wanted to take a second to thank you Keith, for keeping us up to date with the good news you share, and, also with the sad news.  I have come to count on you to keep me informed and very much appreciate you making the effort and taking the time to keep us in the loop.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-
