Topic: Just another new guy...

Hi all! smile

my name is Phil, and i am a Joe Bonamassa addict. i'm late to the party here. Sloe Gin was my first Joe Bonamassa album. got it just about 2 months ago. a couple days later i bought A New Day Yesterday and Shepherd's Bush. needless to say, now i own them all!

i play guitar, bass, and drums. i played drums for @10 years exclusively, but my current focus is guitar.

i'm in a metal band, but i'm definately not a 'metal only' kind of guy. i like a HUGE range of stuff. i can find something i like in just about anything, especially if there are guitars involved! it all comes back to the Blues anyway, right? i mean, even Black Sabbath was playing the blues before their deal with the Devil!

Re: Just another new guy...

thanks for the warm welcome everyone! i appreciate it smile

stevea, i'm another upstate NY guy. i'm from a tiny town Mineville. it's by the shore of Lake Champlain, about an hour and a half south of the Canadian border. i went to college in Morrisville, NY which is in Joe's home neck of the woods. pretty much all the same up here, though. little towns spread out in the woods. kind of nice, actually.

bigjeffjones, you sound just like my band's bass player. "Guitar players?! What's so special about them? Just throw a rock and you'll hit one." wink

Re: Just another new guy...

and, unfortunately for me, it doesn't look like i'll be able to see Joe live until the fall ... and i already can't wait!

Hey Phatfil, welcome aboard.  Mineville IS a nice tiny town on Lake Champlain, but it's also right off the Northway (I-87) and adjacent to the Adirondacks, man that's lovely there!  Elizabethtown is OK, but the Town of Lewis judge (one of them, won't mention Judge Pierce's name however tongue) holds a grudge...Paul McCartney & Band On the Run come to mind.  Hope that isn't your uncle or anything...

A belated, but, nevertheless VERY warm welcome to the Forum Phil.  Enjoy.  Stay a while.  Laugh often.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Phil

A big welcome to the forum i hope you enjoy it as much as i have in the last couple of weeks since registering.  Strange things seems to happen when you get hooked on Joes music as i have found out recently.  I'm a big Sabbath fan and a guitarist myself and play most styles but love playing blues so i'll look foward to your future posts.
