Geoff, I feel your pain man !!!   I still have not gotten back to work yet after 2 months since being laid off myself. I'll give it a little longer to see if the legal litigations between the 2 prospective buyers of my former place of employment goes through. If not i'll start looking elsewhere. I know it can be stressful to be put into your situation,but you will see that things always work out in the end one way or another. Best of luck to you...Darrin

I've always enjoyed reading your thoughts and words up untill this thread. Very sorry to hear this news man. Its probally going to be rough for a while so lean on family and friends, thats the good part of having them. Some time will pass and you'll find a new situation and things will be different but better. Keep a positive attitude and you'll land on your feet.

Thank them (silently) for doing me a favor and invite them to do something impossible (also silently) put them behind me, know there is a plan and walk proudly about looking for a problem only I can fix.  Then we make a deal lol

Hi Geoff. I haven't been on line for a few days so only just read your post. I'm very sorry to hear your news. Twelve of my colleagues have just been made redundant and it has been a hard time for everyone at work. I have survived this time but I don't know for how long. Look for the silver lining Geoff, a new opportunity may be just around the corner.

Thanks yet again. I showed my daughter your kind words today......made her shed a tear.....BUT....I've got irons in the fire, fingers in pie's and plans afoot. They ain't gonna put me out to pasture just yet ....not if I have any say in it wink

Oh Geoff - I just read this, because I wasn´t home over the weekend ... I´m so sorry for you!

Maybe after some time has passed you will see that a new door always opens when another one is closed - but maybe sayings don´t help you right now, so I just keep my fingers crossed for you that this new door will open soon. Good luck for you smile

Hi Geoff

Seems like the whole world has gone redundancy mad.
The bankers and finance world milk us for all it's worth and then when they mess it up, guess who bears the brunt.

Great to see you're positive about the future and that you have irons in the fire.
I have been through this (although thankfully ages ago) and know the pain you feel. Even now where I work, we seem to have a reorganisation every so often, and people are made redundant. It is awful to see dedicated people leave, and you live in constant wonder when your turn is coming.

As others has said, it's another door opening, a new challenge.
It's the uncertainty that probably is the worry.

Stay positive my friend. It will be better.

Make sure you keep us updated of the opening doors and of which one you choose.

Well now!!!

It seems that the kind words and good wishes of you fair people have helped opened that new door. I can't say too much just yet as papers have to be signed and finances have to be agreed.....BUT!.....I start work next week in the same line of business as I was previously employed. I count myself as being extremely lucky.

Thank you all so much for the support that you've shown to me and my family....you're a very special bunch of Bonamaniacs big_smile

Norma and I may yet have further plans but it's early days yet and we need to check out our options. In the meanwhile I offer you my heartfelt thanks.....and a big on-line hug too big_smile

I'm so glad that the terrible upset only lasted for five days for you Geoff, and that, indeed, another door DID open for you so quickly.  I wish it could be that 'quick and easy' for our other Forum members who remain in the position of being laid off or are living with the fear that it will be their turn next.  Now that you are good to go, I'm gonna get back to sending ALL those extra good thoughts, prayers and well wishes to the others.

Yep, I know how lucky I am to have only been out of work for basically 24 hours....it was a Bank Holiday Monday here last weekend, redundant officially on Friday and re-employed on Tuesday.

Libby, I know what you mean and I'll say my prayers for those forum members too. Tripsy, love that photo.
