Topic: Bahamas Revisited for any divers out there

Some pics of our recent diving trip to Lucaya on Grand Bahama.

10 of us from Merseyside Sub Aqua Club flew from Manchester, England to Philly and spent a great night at Warmdaddys and took in some Southrn hospitality there. I had contacted them by e-mail and they had a row of tables all set out for us right in the front. The food was great and so was the entertainment. We then flew out to Grand Bahama and stayed at Ocean Reef Yacht Club for two weeks and dived with Brand Bahama Scuba who operate from there. Can really recommend Fred and Melinda. We dived with sharks on most dives and fed them on two occasions. Dove Theos wreck twice during the day and twice for a night dive, which was stunning. Alarmingly Lion fish are now starting to become very prolific, feeding on all the smaller fish, which will upset the food chain as they do not have any predators or known parasites or infestations to keep the numbers down. They may be beautiful, but they are some 25% bigger than any lion fish I have seen anywhere else in the world.

Oh wow, now I´m jealous! lol

Very nice pictures - but I hope the weather outside the water was better than on the rain picture most of the time ... wink
I always wanted to learn diving, but I´m too much of a little coward to do it - I´m always afraid that my loungs could explode or anything...

What kind of sharks did you see?

Carribbean Grey Reef Sharks, between 9 and 12 feet long - big ***%# cats really! Beautiful creatures to see up close!

You should try diving, it's easy! You just need to be taught properly that's all. I've been doing it for thirty five years and love it as much now as I did when I first started when I was 25 years old!

LOVED your photos Geoff - particularly giggled at the underwater dress.  Also, seeing the sharks reminded me of the first and last time I saw a 6-7 footer while snorkeling on the north shore of Kauai (my personal favorite).  My hubby likes to tell people that, after kindly  pointing out the shark to me, all he saw was 'fins and fanny'!  Eek!

P. S.  We just had a new member join us Geoff.  She happens to dive and I've encouraged her to post about that.  Perhaps you'll end up diving together and listening to Joe above the water's surface.  : )

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-
