Thanks for the heads up. Can you recommend an album? I'm sure you can.

Tripsy and Ges...AWESOME!!  This is a little band from VT who have been together for a while but are just really starting to gain momentum as a headlining act..they have toured with Mule a lot, with Black Crowes, Dave Mathews...I would recommend Nothing But the Water as far as albums go but honestly, they are just so much better live than their studio stuff that is out there now.  I think they may be putting together another release , there are some rumblings and I'll be sure to keep you posted...very much hoping it will be a live one.  They are  bluesy, big time soul, rock and roll....electrifying to see live as Grace will simply blow you away.  Wish I could be there for Mountain Jam..that would be incredible!!  don't forget..you can find all things NOcturnal on www.thisissomewhere.com...k.cortez who runs the site is incredible at finding any and all that is out there, and generally some really high quality videos and pictures.

from one MUSIC LOVER to others...I know if you are here you have GREAT taste in music and know talent when you see and hear it...check out Grace Potter and the Nocturnals live if they are coming anywhere near you.

I loooove love Warren Haynes and I'd kill to see them together....I'd have died and gone to heaven!!  and by the way..why the heck wasn't Joe at Crossroads 2007 in Chicago..can someone please explain this to me???  I was there but Joe was not...how can this beeeeee

Amy,
Joe had other commitments he had to attend to. How did you like Crossroads i was there too right up front on the right side of the stage, which artist did you like best? Also love Grace Potter have seen her 4 times she adopted me as her uncle, i guess i look like someone she knows always get together with her before or after the show, she is a real sweetheart!!

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Amy-thanks for all the info, Grace is really great, Jane H. turned me on to her, thinking I would like her if I liked Bonnie Raitt....like one of those Amazon comparisons.  I missed her when she was in Philly last time around, but stayed up late to see her on one of the late night shows.  Unrelated to her great vocals and talent as a musician, I like the way she puts clothes together, she carries stuff off well.  I was trying to get a look at the heels on those white boots...they reminded me of Nancy Sinatra...those boots are make for walking and that's just what they'll do, one of these days there gonna' walk all over you....  You may be too young to remember that song.  No jokes about Nancy Sinatra, my kids jaws dropped when they were raving about a Jack White song, Bang, Bang...it's a Sonny Bono cover also sung by Nancy Sinatra ...Bang, Bang...

Back to Grace...she's a great talent, I really like her Moremassa Amy smile

Well, if Grace gets a recommendation from the forum's other biggest Bonnie fan I suppose I better check her out. Where should I start?

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Hey Angela!!  first of all..I'm 41!! so I remember Nancy and her walkin boots!  Secondly, I am with you-I am a huge fan of Grace's sense of style, her short dresses or jeans with boots, and she has some awesome boots let me tell you!!  She has a pair of red ones that the entire street team is dying to know who made em and the gals want to know where we can get a pair!!  I am also a HUGE Bonnie Raitt fan, I agree Grace will bring Bonnie to mind..maybe a bit Janis...she's got some pipes and she sure aint bad to look at either!  I have a bit of a girl crush on her, but anyone who sees her live be it male or female all say the same.  Once look, one listen, and she'll hook you good.  She is quite the entertainer, and I do believe they will eventually be a name everyone will know and recognize.  So glad you enjoyed and please take a look at their schedule...get yourself to a show.  You will not be disappointed!!

Amsterhammer..Grace has a big time fan over in GErmany...let me get his site and post it here.  He is trying very hard to get the band across the pond..I will surely let you know if I hear it is a go.   you can find a ton of stuff on you tube, but check my other posts on this thread too to find some sites that will show you the way.  I also want you guys to see some fotos from a few months back-some shots taken for an interview with Grace.  all I got to say is WOW.

Bob..I missed your post earlier...hey!!  Crossroads..well it was just the best day that I have ever lived on this earth, that's all!!  I thought it was AMAZING...my only regret was not getting up earlier and taking into account the amount of time it would take to get there..we were on the floor, about 1/4 of the way back on the left of the stage as you are facing it.  Faves of the day Albert Lee, Derek Trucks BAnd with Susan Tedeschi, Robert Randalph, Robert Cray, Steve Winwood was incredible...of course Eric (he played my fave George Harrison song and I cried tears of joy!!) ...OMG if there was a day I could live over and over it would be THAT DAY!!  all the people there were incredible-so nice and really enjoying the day.   I loved Tal (the bass player with Jeff BEck-who is great, don't get me wrong, but just not my fave).  what about you???!!!  tell me about your crossroads experience.  Got the DVD..it sure is great but comes no where near to being there.  4 hours on the DVD just doesn't capture it now, does it!  smile

Thanks Amy, but circumstances have conspired against me so that I simply won't have the time to check Grace out now. I'll get to it in a month or so. Thanks for all the links and stuff.

Amy-I think my boot collection is looking a wee bit lame after hearing about Grace's... big_smile  If I were to venture down the yellow brick road towards your neck of the woods, I think there would be Nuthin' But Trouble Waiting. lol  Make sure you check out Cathy's band Nuthin' But Trouble, she's their PR rep and their into shoes too...wrote a song about pink pumps. wink

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Bob...WOW!!!  you won a flying V guitar???  how SWEET IS THAT?!!  do you play?  my hubby is a guitar player in a band..but he doesn't have a flying V.  and honestly, we have no more room for any more guitars!!  as it is, they are stacked in the corners of every room in our very small house.   congrats on the win.  thanks for sharing your faves from Crossroads...it was simply a day I will never forget!  We flew to Chicago from KC, then took AMtrak home and man was it fun.  seemed as though everywhere we went there were people who had been to the show and it was all we could talk about.  AMAZING...can't wait for the next one!

Angela-I'm with you there...although I did aquire quite a few new pairs of boots since becoming a Nocs fan!! I think I picked up 2 or 3 pairs this past winter.  I'm going now to look into this "nuthin but trouble" band!

Amsterhammer...
just don't forget....but no matter when, the Nocs will be there when you are available.   I will be hitting up a show in mid August so I'll be sure to get hold of you with some good pictures and hopefully some video...and some stories as I'm hoping to get some face time with the band!!  If I can just get an invite back to Potterville....now that would be a great story!!

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Count me in too as a fan of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals.  I haven't seen them live, but I hope to see them in the near future.  She's got a Chris Isaak style of singing with alot of reverb thrown in.

Curby:  I have had the pleasure of seeing her from a pretty close distance and she is not only a very attractive woman but one HELL of a B3 player, and not a bad guitarist either (played slide in an open tuning on a Flying V for a song).   Her guitar player Scott is pretty good too...not a shredder but plays very tastefully.

Make an effort to get out and see her and the Nocs, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Recently I've crossed paths with Grace playing with others.  I got a nice acoustic duet of her and Bethany Joy Galeotti singing "I Want Something That I Want".  I also got her singing with Reid Genauer on the song "Light Blue Lover" off Assembly of Dust's monumental Some Assembly Required.  I'd have to put SAR with my desert island collection...yeah, it's that good.
