Topic: ..and I thought "What's through your window" ?

Sitting listening to Blues deluxe from the Mr Kyps gig (last year??) and looking through the window at my gaden. Grass just cut. Evening meal just eaten and pots washed (9.30 pm here....no dishwasher in this house....except me). Two very nice ciders drunk. All well with the world (well luckily here in the UK anyway. Awful events in Burma and China at the moment) and I had three thoughts.

1. Do other people around the world on this forum have cider as a drink in their country ?

2. Life is so fragile. Here's me listening to the best sounds in music and somewhere in the world, somone is seeing tragedy (Burma and China) and probably some of our forum buddies are having problems - poor health, relationship problems, or whatever. I'm just so lucky.

3. What do you see through your window ?

I think of the other Bonamassa forum guys around the world (without looking at the active forum just now for names, people like Angela, Jane, Geoff, Andre, Eva, Big Jeff, Roy, Libby (both of you), Tripsey, Rocket, Patty, Michael......and loads others) and wonder what's through their window. All over the world and Joe Bonamassa brings us together. Amazing isn't it !!

Hmmm, Mountain Time just come on. Oh YES!! Makes the thought even more "real"

Anyway, the point is, why don't we post a pic of what we see through our window ?We probably live such different lives and cultures and yet the Bonamusic is a common thread in our lives. Why don't we share a little of that culture - the view through your window.

Hi Ges,

You're in a very contemplative mood and I know where you're coming from. The view from my window this evening is pretty similar. The tubs and baskets are replanted for the summer, the grass has been fed, weeded, scarified and mown to within an inch of its life. Dinner has been cooked, eaten, appreciated (especially ny number two son Rory who has just returned from a miserable week in Tenerife) and dishes washed (by him and his girlfriend). I've had two glasses of red wine (hic!).

I've uploaded (or is that uploaded?) my piccies from last night's Robin Trower gig in Holmfirth and have spent the last hour or so checking in on the forum. Life is pretty ok at the moment. Everyone is in good health and I still have a job even though twelve of my colleagues have unfortunately just been made redundant. Oh, and we have just been told we are getting a £300 bonus in this month's pay due to some PAYE scheme coming to an end.

Also got a few gigs lined up in the coming months. Journey at Newcastle in June, Joe in Liverpool in July and Queen with Paul Rodgers in November.

Yes it's good to take the time to appreciate the good things we have going especially when so many people in other parts of the world are suffering so much.

We all do have our own problems from time to time but there is one thing that always serves as a pick-me-up and that's music. It enriches my life more than words can say. Joe certainly has given us a great gift.

Dearest Ges,
       Your contemplation has spread across the big blue sea as this week the topics between my son and I have all centered around the "why" of our existence.  We are also on the "eve" of his graduation from highschool.  We had our graduation party with friends yesterday afternoon and laughed ourselves silly trying to get table coverings to stay on tables outside in a blustery-downright gustery (think I made that word up)  wind.  The way I wanted the table to be decorated and everything just placed so-so was abandoned for the exquisite enjoyment of each others company.  I looked around at one point and was in awe of what an awesome son I have.  How did he grow up so fast?  Weren't we playing on the swings and slide at this park not too long ago?  When I went to pick up his cake, I cried when the baker handed to me....a chapter in my life is about to change.....graduation is this coming weekend, family coming from states away to share in this glorious event....I have dropped eveything that I thought I had "to do" just "to be with" my son.  God is Good.
       My Mom came on the spur of the moment, she was in the room when he was born and she just couldn't wait another week until the big graduation.  I looked at her and saw what a wonderful gift I had been given in life...my Mom...no matter what, big or small, always there with her heart wide open.....beaming with pride at her Grandson...she too reflecting on how fast the years have flown by...God is Good.
      And she asked this morning when we got up early what was new with Joe and all my Forum family.  She is in awe of all of you and the friendships that have been made.  I showed her all the new "Joe stuff" I had gotten since I'd last seen her.  Her remark, "That Joe IS quite a guy.  It's amazing how he's brought so much happiness into so many lives." We watched a LIVE Joe show together and we watched the Jane Pauley video of Joe when he was young.  Big smiles on our faces.  There's my Mom almost 80 and enjoying our Joe. God is Good.
     
      It's a very reflective window I've been looking thru this week.........with the current news I have felt very blessed to be so safe and sound in the present moment.  Thank you for posting this topic Ges.   Aaahh, the mysteries of life..........

This is so hard....the window in to my garden shows song-thrushes, blackbirds, yellow-tits, great-tits, robins (even in spring), wood pidgeons, doves, rabbits, squirrels, wild flowers, pale blue butterflies that won't last more than a day or two but look so pretty, .....our garden is very small but we live in the countryside so we get 'visitors'. I even welcome the big old rabbit that steals our salad that we grow....he's welcome to it....I'll grow some more.
We sit and eat good food, we may not be rich but whatever happens, the food on the table will always be good! Sunday was no exception.....the roast beef was wonderful!.... thanks to my wife  Norma, a great cook (Ges, so was the Aspalls Suffolk Cyder)

We moan and bi*ch about little things that upset us,.....is Joe gonna be here or there? when's the new CD released? I can't get a ticket! my amp doesn't sound good...I pay too much tax, the cost of petrol (gas) has gone up again....etc etc.

And then we watch the news.....China, Burma.......all around the world....

How lucky we are to have the strength to enjoy the rising and setting of the sun.

I've often contemplated the wondrous ways in which forums can unite people from places all round the world, Ges. In the past, that wonder was confined to football forums, but no longer!

I look out my window and see the tops of numerous parked cars, a good number of decent sized trees with still sun-kissed tops wafting in the stiff easterly breeze through which I just struggled on my bike. (Think green!) I also see an 11-storey high building that houses folks even older than I am. Above that, I see the kind of blue sky that always makes you want to smile (not that I don't do enough of that anyway!)

The odd thing is that very soon I will be swapping this view for a view so totally different that I can hardly even begin to imagine it. I won't try - instead I'll wait for Cthy to find this topic and describe what she sees.

Great idea for a topic!

At my job I look out the window into an alley, but only walled on one side.  The parking lot stretches out before me and we have Sabal Palms!  There's a few offices but to my East is Beach Street and it is sexy shopping on the river.  Not too shabby.

At home I look out my full length kitchen window to my lushly landscaped front yard with the bird bath & feeder.  I see Cardinals, (the pair) nesting.  I see butterflies and hummingbirds in the Penta (flowers).  I look up and I can see the red shouldered hawk who rules the sky round heah, till a mockingbird gets a case of the ****, then it's all over but the noise.

I look out my bedroom windows into my lanaii and my orchids are in bloom and my White Sail Peace Lillies, as well.  Out the back door my Bonzai Trees are kicking.  Out my kid's bedroom windows I see my fruit trees and they are starting to do their spring time thing.

And because of the ghetto bottom, where I came from, I begin to contemplate the word GRACE.

Looking out the window to my back yard I see a great big deck a great big patio roof with hihat light fixtures and ceiling fans a big hot tub a pool a brick retaining wall with 3 steps and an arbor which leds up to the grassy part a shed and a dog run with the woods beyond  a kid fort with a pirate flag and swing set. What I can't see but I know is there is the bar the trellis the bbq the entertainment center with the stereo and tv the built in benches. All of it built by myself and my two sons. My wife even helped it was great. I did however fire her from the manual labor part of the project and set up a chair for her to oversee the construction. She was affectionatley referred to as "The Warden" during the building process. I know that God has blessed me and I thank Him for my wife and kids everyday because they are what is truly important to me in this life.

At work, I look out from 23 floors up. Looking to the east, I see the Sears tower across the Chicago river and Lake Michigan in the background.
Not a bad view, and I'm not complaining, but here's what I'd like to see:
