Topic: Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium 6/6/08

Well, this monumentous musical event is nearly upon us, and I'm started to get excited. Been quite a fan of the Foos for a while now (had a few months away since my Bonabaptism in Feb. though)!!

Had tickets for this gig since before Christmas, figured it was about time I started organising the finer details like.....where am I going to stay etc....

Thought I would also ask if anyone in the forum is going??

Struggling to find anywhere close to the stadium within my working class budget (yes I know, I probably should have looked months ago!!). Hoping to find a room on the outskirts of the Big Smoke instead, and maybe catch the tube/train in for the gig on the Friday.

If anyone from London town can throw this disorganized Northener some hints or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!

I'm just a teeny bit jealous ...

This'll be the second time I've missed the Foos.  First time was a couple of years ago when they were with another of my favourite bands, Queens of the Stone Age, playing Hyde Park.  Darn, I should pay more attention to what's going on.

Thanks Lyn, the tickets were a surprise Christmas present from my best mate, I was kind of iffing and arring about going.....too expensive.....too far.....but it will be awesome......BLAH BLAH. By the time i'd convinced myself to go, they'd all gone, and I was pretty peed off! Luckily, my best friend (Joe convert #1), got in there and got them. Am looking forward to it, just wish I could get this whole hotel malarky sorted out now!!

Got the Hyde Park DVD....s'a good show isn't it?! Saw them for the first time in Birmingham last year, and they really put on a good show. Grohl is such a good front man, and really knows how to work the crowd, and Taylor is one of the best(if not THE best.....sorry Bogie)drummers I've ever seen! Sorry you can't be there Lyn, s'probably going to be messy!! smile

Paul, a mate of mine works in a guitar shop in Wembley. I'll see if he knows anywhere out that way that's ok to stay.

He's going to ask some of the guys that he works with, he lives in East London so travels a different route to work. He has told me that there's a Travel Lodge type place near the stadium.....could be good to walk out of the gig and back to the hotel bar. Let everyone else fight their way home on the underground. You can leave in the morning when it's a bit more peaceful. I know that's what I prefer doing.
