LEGENDARY BLUES GUITARIST CLEVELAND FATS SUFFERS HEART
ATTACK. WEST COAST TOUR AND 2008 BOOKING CALENDAR CANCELLED. Westend
Management Released the Following MySpace Blog Today: Due to
complications stemming from a heart attack Fats suffered in late April,
he will unfortunately be unable to travel in May as we had announced.
Fats has long been looking forward to performing in California and was
scheduled to start the festivities at Sacramento's Torch Club on April
20th. The Torch Club was the first to book Fats and has been one of
the original venues to support him coming to the West when this project
started back in 2007. So, at the end of April, it was estimated
that Fats would be able to travel in May, and the tour was moved
forward, making his originally scheduled performance at the House of
Blues the new kick-off date for this year's Real Deal Blues Tour. Due
to medical complications, however, Cleveland will require an
extended period of time for proper recovery from this incident. He is
resting at home in Ohio. I would like to extend my appreciation to: the
crew at XM Radio, Thom Myers, Mick Martin, Brian Spenser, Marc
Jacobsen, JJ and the guys at KPOO, all of the musicians in Las Vegas
and the staff at HOB; all of the California and out of state contacts
that booked us this time out; and especially and most importantly-all
the local musicians who stepped in to be a part of the bookings: Warren
Davis, Joe Lev, Pinkie Varner, Pete Phillis, Skip Murphy, "Wolf", Stan
Erhart and his band and everyone! Your support and understanding has
been priceless. __________________________________________________
TODAY'S UPDATE: I spoke with him this afternoon and he is completely
focused on his health and his recovery. For now, Blues has to take a
back seat. The new album is on hold and we are not taking any new
bookings for this year. Anyone who knows Fats or is familiar with his
reputation as one of the hardest-driving Bluesmen in the industry,
knows that if Blues is taking a back seat, then this is quite a serious
situation. We will keep you all posted with updates on Fats' myspace
page blog. There is a paypal button where you can purchase his latest
CD and we will soon be featuring a wider selection of his work.
Proceeds from CD sales are being set aside to offset his massive
medical bills. Comments and well wishes can be left for him on his
page: www.myspace.com/clevelandfats2008 You may contact me directly
with any questions. Respectfully, Mary Franklin WestEnd Management
