Topic: Sound Control goes bust

So a large music store chain in the UK has suddenly gone bust.
Just closed down a number of stores on Friday.

I feel really sorry for the guys who have lost their jobs.

They were pretty useless for me being left handed as they just didn't seem interested.
I did buy my Strat from Soho Soundhouse though which was owned by them.

I hope we get some good old fashioned music shops spring up to take up the slack.

Re: Sound Control goes bust

I hate seeing those stores close. We've had that happen too many times around here and unfortunately we haven't seen any music shops at all take their place.  They're gone with the dinosaurs.  sad

It's a bad time to be in the instrument retail business. When money's tight, guitars and amps are the last thing on most peoples shopping lists.

:s only 1 store close to me and they was pretty useless, infact made me uncomfy sometimes.... shame none the less though

Re: Sound Control goes bust

Yeah, I had pretty similar experiences in the store near me. My left-handed LP copy was bought there, and I had real trouble trying to get a replacement, when my guitar had a coffee-table interface (still upsets to talk about). Took about two months for them to tell me the I wasn't going to get the guitar I ordered and paid for anymore....wasn't happy!!

Ended up going somewhere else. It is a shame though, cuz they did stock some nice gear, and some decent prices.

I did feel a bit intimidated though anytime I walked in, and there was like 5-6 young guys standing behind the counter all trying to make eye contact (commision, commision....).

Re: Sound Control goes bust

A friend of mine caught a woman of Eastern European descent in his shop on CCTV. She hid a Dynacord Powermate 1000 powered PA desk under her skirt, hooked to a frame that her 'national dress' hid. He warned me about her and the following week we caught her and her partner trying to hide a Gibson 335 under her skirt.....and that's the truth.
