Topic: How´s that guitar called?

Hey my dear guitar-specialist guys,

Gotta take the chance to learn something new from you: Can somebody tell me what kind of Gibson guitar this is -> http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/29 … 2418lUBPHV ?!

Looks like Joe´s using it for the slide part of "One of these days" ... does anybody know if he used that one before?!
I never saw him play that one before - Joe used this one for "One of these days" in Europe: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25162871@N … 328526165/ .

Thanks, Eva smile

Re: How´s that guitar called?

It is a Gibson Skylark. Joe played the prototype last year at his 30th birthday. It is a Les Paul style slide guitar.
Not sure if it has gone into production or if that is the prototype he is playing still.

Re: How´s that guitar called?

Hallo Eva,

hab noch ein paar Insider news für dich! smile

In an interview Joe said about thid guitar:

"That guitar is a prototype Gibson Skylark guitar from the Gibson Custom shop.. I believe there are two or three total that they made. Its Korina and made in the style of the old 50s skylark lapsteels.. I think they might put them into production but Im not sure.. My job is to play it and give them feedback on it. It really is quite cool and sounds very good."

The Gibson customer service said on my inquiry request as following:

"Thank you for your interest in Gibson guitars.
The guitar appears to be a customized guitar (custom order or customized by himself),
as it has not been or is not a regular production model."

Hope this helps a bit,

Alex

Re: How´s that guitar called?

I'm glad you got your answer Eva.  I know Joe's been playing that guitar over here for awhile.  Like I told you, I saw him play it back in May, 2007.  I didn't realize he wasn't using that one in Europe.  I knew he left equipment in Europe so he didn't have to transport it back and forth, but I thought he took his guitars with him.  Hhhmmmm...  You learn something new every day.  hmm
