Re: MEMORABLE CONCERT EXPERIENCES

Just a few off the top of my memory...so many....but as a spectator...

Stevie Ray Vaughan with Jeff Beck on the 'In Step' tour 1989

UFO with Michael Schenker, when I was working in a club, with Michael wanting me on stage, off right for some reason...then after asking me what was my favorite, facing me while playing "Rock Bottom" no more than 6 or 7 feet away...I wasn't sure if he would end up swatting me with the Flying V or not, but it added to the tension
. wink Pete Way coming over drunkenly hanging all over Michael didn't make matters any better.

George Thorogood with the original 3 piece Destroyers, with George playing through only a Fender Champ placed on a folding chair, then having George come out and talking with us while we were partaking of "illicit substances". No, George didn't partake ....

Frank Marino playing for approximately 3 hours in front of 30 people, including staff.

Going CD shopping with the late Dave Peverett of Foghat before a gig, picking up some more blues albums.

Hanging with Uli Jon Roth watching Michael Schenker a few years back when Michael was opening for Uli.

The Outlaws on the 'Ghost Riders' tour, including a 30 minute version of "Green Grass & High Tides'

Any Deep Purple show I went to with Ritchie Blackmore on guitar...or Who show

Speaking of The Who, Jethro Tull opening for The Who, on their "farewell tour" tongue 1982

Hanging with Rory Gallagher after a show in the mid 80's, then going back to the tour bus to do a bit of jamming afterwards....one of the great memories. As a performer and as a person,  it'd be hard pressed to beat Rory.

Or any Frank Zappa show...what an underrated guitarist.

Paul McCartney - childhood dream comes true (I got to see a Beatle and give him flowers.)
Rod Stewart - twice, 2nd time got to give him flowers and he bowed down to me (sigh.....)

Queen with Paul Rodgers - Each WOW by themselves, WOW WOW together.
Derek Trucks - standing next to him during intermission at the sales table, everyday kind of
guy, very, very sweet demeanor, got to tell him I loved him, he blushed and

Re: MEMORABLE CONCERT EXPERIENCES

First gig ever was Queen on A Night at The Opera Tour when Bohemian Rhapsody had just been released. I was just a kid back then and have seen some awesome gigs since:

Every Rush gig I have been to
Black Sabbath with Van Halen supporting(their first UK tour)
AC/DC with Bon Scott(Captured on the Family Jewels DVD)
UFO with Herr Schenker
BOC with Japan supporting
KISS with Bon Jovi supporting
Jackson Browne
James Taylor
Tony Bennett(YES!)
Iron Maiden
Bad Company
Paul Rodgers
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow

First Joe gig at The Ferry in Glasgow ranks highly amongst them. There are too many more to list.

Re: MEMORABLE CONCERT EXPERIENCES

I was thinking about this last night...and i totally remembered that when I was living in Austin, I went to Antone's and saw Chris Duarte open for Los Lonely Boys right before they hit the "big time". I was directly in front of center stage and it was awesome...couldn't hear for a day or two after...but what a guitar extravaganza!

Re: MEMORABLE CONCERT EXPERIENCES

Most memorable...hell, probably the ones I dont remember..especially Pink Floyd back in 77...damn that doctor that passed away yesterday!!...ok ok...how about Foghat in this little run down club out here...Lonesome Dave leaned over and let me strum his guitar while laughing his a** off... sadly he passed away about 5 years later...oh, and there were only about 50 people in the entire place...I was embarrassed for them and apologized after the show to them...that didnt stop them from torching this club...11 on a 10 scale!!

Re: MEMORABLE CONCERT EXPERIENCES

Yeah. KWS was there as well. Great shows. that was shortly before the original lineup of Indigenous went their separate ways if I remember.

Re: MEMORABLE CONCERT EXPERIENCES

I heard it was because the year when B.B. King played that because of the huge rain that happened (and it was huge, never seen so much mud) that they lost a lot of money. Kinda sad, it was a really good festival.
