Topic: A fanboy's dream summer....

What a terrific summer to be a movie fan. We have Iron Man finally making it on the big screen this Friday, and it looks truly awesome. We've got the revamped Hulk this summer, and I hope it's better than that one a couple of years ago. We've got the new Indiana Jones movie, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls, coming out this summer, and it looks great. We've got the newest James Bond coming out soon, don't think it'll be in the summer though. And finally, my all-time favorite, the new Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, with the late Heath Ledger as a Joker that will truly redefine the role forever. I am absolutely stoked about this summer and the movies that will come out. Who else here is truly pumped!!!

I heard Ironman is going to take a hit its opening weekend because GrandTheftAuto is coming out and eveyone's staying home to play video games.

All I can say to that is thank goodness I've never gotten into video games. That's truly sad, because this movie is going to own. Robert Downey Jr. is going to knock it out of the park.

Ironman will be one that I will not wait for on DVD.  Big screen, stadium seating and both of my lunatic sons.  Bond, too.

Can I get an AMEN?

I quit playing video games when I found out the girls think it's unattractive....and playing guitars impresses more people than video games.

That and Batman. Probably Indiana Jones as well. But you have no idea how pumped I am for The Dark Knight. You don't understand how big a Batman fan I am. When I was three my parents took me to see the 89 movie in theaters for my birthday. These other movies are getting me through to July 18, which seems SO LONG AWAY! I would say they might carry me away to the funny farm, but I wouldn't let that happen because it would stop me from seeing the movie! smile

oh I have an idea...I've been reading Batman comics for 45 years and I've seen all Batman movies at least twice.  I bow and scrape in shame for letting that one go unmentioned.   I thought it was AUTOMATIC lol

cool  Indiana Jones yup yup yup that too.  All I've watched for months has been less than thrilling.  whinepissandmoan

Re: A fanboy's dream summer....

Here's one for all you bat-lovers out there. It's a bootleg copy of the new trailer that's doing the rounds at the moment. Apparently it's not officially out till Sunday but it's everywhere already. Not excellent quality, but thoroughly absorbing, and class!!! Sooo looking forward to this film. Nolan's done a great job bringing this franchise back to life.

Great casting (RIP Heath) + excellent direction + kick-ass score(Zimmer at his finest) = Bring it on!! smile

Enjoy!! This one's for you Deezer, and you BJJ. smile

Re: A fanboy's dream summer....

I'm really looking forward to Batman, then Ironman. I think the newest Batman (series and star) is by far the best. They took a page from the Spiderman series, and treated the character and storyline seriously.

I've never been a big fan of the Indiana Jones movies, to me it just seems like action for action's sake (same with James Bond)...gentleman, start your flaming! tongue

Dark Knight sounds like it could be a great movie. I'm very happy that they're staying with Christian Bale as Batman. I thought he did an excellent job in the first movie and the series needs continuity in it's lead role. Heath Ledger should be great as the Joker. Hopefully he's resting comfortably wherever he is now. I also think it's great that they're keeping Batman the dark character that he was in the comics. I'm anxious to take my kids to see this one. Actually, when it comes to that, I guess I'm a bit of a big kid myself!

They've definitely kept with continuity in this one. Morgan Freeman's back as Lucious (sp?) Fox, Michael Caine's back as Alfred, Gary Oldman is back as Gordon. I think the only character that is back for the new movie that they replaced is Rachel Dawes, but I really think they upgraded from Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhaul.

That's the sad thing, because the two Burton Batman films were genius and then what apparently happened was that WB wanted Tim to make it a more light-hearted affair to sell toys. Burton and Keaton walked, and Schumacher took over, and it was all downhill, neon and Bat nipples galore.

Apparently Warner Brothers is keeping a close eye on YouTube. Oh well, I can wait until Sunday. I've heard about the trailer, though.

Re: A fanboy's dream summer....

Figured it was only a matter of time before it disappeared. Felt a bit wrong posting it to be honest, I don't like the whole bootlegging movies thing as a rule. It was awesome though, even in such poor quality!!

As much of a Michael Keaton fan as I am too, I think Christian Bale is the better actor and is more credible in the role IMHO. Looks like they're setting up for number three as well with Harvey Dent, or does he become Two-Face in this one, does anyone know? Just a thought.

Am looking forward to Iron Man now too, although I wasn't up until I saw the last trailer. Looks like it could be a good one. I guess I still had a bitter taste left by The Rocketeer!!
