Topic: Sean Costello's memorial fund

I'm sorry to say I did not realise how good Sean Costello's music was until I heard the sad news of his death.

This article is on his myspace page. I thought it may be of interest to you all:

To all of Sean Costello's Friends, I would like you to know about the Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research.Sean overcame many challenges, not the least of which was severe shyness and social anxiety. He demonstrated unbelievable strength to triumph and blaze paths that others could not even dream of. With this in mind, the foundation has specific goals:To support research for early intervention and diagnosis To provide support for families To research the connection between bipolar disorder and social anxiety To lobby for health care policy change to afford help before damage is irreparable, and, in honor of Sean, To provide funds for musicians who suffer such emotional challenges, but who often have no health insurance and who live in a world riddled with triggers that encourage relapse.Eventually, it would be my dream to have a center for recovery for musicians and artists, with treatment modalities appropriate for their biochemistry and unique gifts for communication and introspection.I would ask that you consider contributing to this fund as well as providing us with any ideas that you may have for furthering its cause. Sean's life was one of giving in every way he knew how, and I would like to continue that spirit in his honor. You can email me through his MySpace and/or donate by emailing tray@bbandt.com or mailing donation to The Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research at BB&T 3620 Tramore Pointe Parkway Austell GA 30106.I thank you for all of your support of Sean and hope you will continue to spread his music to all you know. It is the legacy he deserves and would be humbly proud to receive.Debbie Smith (Sean's Mom)

Re: Sean Costello's memorial fund

I did think more of you would express an interest in this. I'd also recommend you listen to some of Sean's work.

Here's a link that may be of interest and would help you do so:

Is there any news of how?  I'm in limbo here.  Maybe others are as well.

Bigjeffjones - as far as I am aware the cause of death has not been revealed. Sean has been laid to rest therefore I suspect we will not hear any further on the cause of his untimely death. It may be the above statement above hints at what may have contributed, however I do not think it is appropriate for us to speculate on the matter, but rather discover or remember the music Sean made.

I DON'T want to speculate.  I want to know.  I have my reasons.  I agree that it would be inappropriate to speculate, esp. here.  Respect to you for your good efforts.

I'll wait.

Re: Sean Costello's memorial fund

Joe did a very nice tribute to Sean today on the "Cup of Joe".  I'll post the details later on when I have time.  I wasn't really that familiar with Sean either before his passing, his voice sounds way older than his years and he was a very talented young man.  May he find peace now...

This is a very good cause Greenose and a nice effort on your part to bring it to our attention.  Thanks.

Hi, sorry I didn't mean to suggest you were speculating, I just wanted to prempt speculation from the forum users in general. I felt the other topic on Sean did start to speculate, hence I created a new topic.

If memory serves, that is exactly what DID happen, Duncan.  Wise choice to start anew.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

I strongly agree (obviously).  Wise move.  No apology necessary, but thank you.  If you want to know my reasons, you are welcome to email me.

Re: Sean Costello's memorial fund

These are the 3 songs Joe played yesterday in honor of Sean.  Joe had mentioned before, he never met Sean, but he passed way too young and he was a very talented guy.  I miss the opening lines yesterday, but for those who know Sean's music or are interested in checking it out, pay special attention to "Going Home". The lyrics are especially haunting given the fact that Sean has passed on.  RIP Sean.
