Topic: Kenny Wayne Shepherd Signature Strat

Has anyone heard about this. I know Ken his dad and manager posted that Fender was doing and that they would start producing it in September. Here is a video that shows Kenny talking about it at a car show. Very cool and classy. I think it looks freakin' awesome.

ugh - you see his guitar for like two seconds...

I wonder why Fender did a sig for KWS?  Maybe having DT for a rhythm section helps.

Seriously, over in Detroit where I work nobody's even heard of KWS.  It's rather stunning - since I've known of him since '96. I thought more people have heard of him. Actually, more people have usually heard of JB if they play guitar because at least he's on Sirius and in Guitar magazines all the time.

Kenny has been around long enough and accomplished enough to have his own signature strat...do you think it'll differ at all from the stevie ray strat?

for signature strats, I have to say that the John Mayer model kicks the most butt IMO...

Well, it's black with white or silver racing stripes. Kenny's sound to me always had more bite than Stevie's.

Yes, but there's only one on the JM. KWS's has two and they're in a different position. This probably has to do with the fact that KWS is a huge car fan more than he digs John Mayer.

The only thing I don't like is that big E on the pickguard. I think that might be from the sticker though. I've seen KWS playing this in videos, and it doesn't have that on the pickguard. Just solid black.

Nope. I just know that per Kenny's message board that they've been working on this for about a year. There's officially been no release date from Fender. I've heard from Ken shepherd that it's going to be September when they release it. I know that on the video I posted in the first post that it has a good sound. I'm sure it's a great guitar.

I'm sorry, but I loved playing John Mayer's strat. And I think if I had to pick, it'd be JM's hands down. I thought they were going to make some relic guitars for the KWS Signature that resembled his actual guitars?

me too...amazing guitar and actually when I was in NYC, I played 3 different models at the Guitar Center, and ALL of them played great...which is a rarity as I have never found 3 of the same model guitar that all played equally as well...

the eric johnson strat is a cool one too. they say that that is the mass production strat that comes closest to a custom shop model.

Did not do that. I think that might've been a limited edition thing. Could be wrong though. Like I said, the one he plays onstage does not have that on the pickguard.
