Topic: Volker Strifler Band

I got to see Volker Strifler Band last night at the Poor House Bistro in San Jose, CA. Never a cover charge but of course we treated ourselves to drinks and food. What a great band. They do interesting originals and variations on the blues and some jazzy stuff, too. This was the just the four piece band without the horns but Andy Just sat in and played his wicked blues harp. I plan on going to see them again at JJ's Blues on May 2 and that will also feature A.J. and hopefully the horns will be there. I like that keyboard players style and Volkers guitar playing. Got to talk to Volker for a minute and then later the bass guitar player. A bass player named Bassey!
My blues brother wants to drive to San Francisco this week for Walter Trout at Biscuits and Blues. Is anybody from the forum going? Are there still any tickets available?

Re: Volker Strifler Band

Fred, glad to hear this, I thought I was the only person here besides Bluezman Daryl that knew about Volker. Whoops can't forget Eva, she hasn't had a chance to see them, but she's got a signed CD from Volker. I know Don Bassey, he lives in Vallejo and we cross paths here in Benicia once in awhile. They're playing the same day as Joe at the Monterey Blues Fest on June 28th. I almost went to Sacto. today to see them, but Back Door Slam wore me out last night. You're right, there's too much music to keep up with around these parts.
