Topic: top wrapped my strings

Hi everyone got another question . I just top wrapped my strings for the first time on my LP custom , I went from 10's to 11's and now I'm getting a fret buzz on my G string like crazy when I'm fretted from the 5 fret and up seems worse higher up 7,9 etc. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated . Thanks again Paul   P.S. I do love the feel and sound of the 11's top wrapped

Re: top wrapped my strings

I'm no expert but I don't think it has anyting to do with top wrapping the strings. All that does is bind the strings to the peg for a tighter wind. It's probably because you've gone up in string guage. You'll have to setup the guitar for the bigger strings. Bigger strings sit in the saddles and nut grooves differently. Take you guitar to a good tech and tell him you've upped the string gauge. H'ell know what to do.

Blessings,
Larry

Re: top wrapped my strings

true.

I mean considering you haven't changed the nut or the saddle, the thicker strings are in the exact same spot as the 10's were. Since that G string is a little thicker, it much not be able to be as close to the fretboard (low action). So you might need to raise the action a bit?

I would drop $20 and just have the guitar setup. just a quick check-over...
