Topic: why we do what we do. . .

you know, i was just thinking about motivation earlier. after reading the ridiculous posts about joe, and joe's responses, it made me think.
Why do we do the things we do?
i know joe doesn't give his all every day to hear comments about his pants (who cares? your listening to the best guitar player alive! he could walk onto stage with those red "loverboy" pants and i just would look straight past it. really. who gives a crap what he wears?). i eevn remember a guy who said joe's jacket looked like what his grandfather got off the boat wearing. come on. these attacks have nothing to do with music or even the kind of human being you are, but everything to do with people's mental issues.
you know, I don't consider my motivation in selling insurance the one guy a day who asks me how I can sleep at night. My motivation, what I feed off of, are the people that come to me later so thankful that they had purchased my insurance just before something happened. That's how i sleep at night. you know what? sometimes i snore, too!
to the point- joe, allow your motivation to continue to be people like me, who pick "when she dances" to be the song my new wife and i dance to at my wedding. or the endless musicians that hang on every note hpoing to be able to play just a portion of the music you do. or the people who never got to see stevie ray or jimi hendrix play, but are finally satisfied after having seen you play. or knowing as you pull into the next city that there are people there who have been waiting to see you for MONTHS, and would gladly pay more than $20 ticket, even if they didn't get to shake your hand. joe, your true fans are the ones who feel a sense of pride when they see your bus, not some kind of jealosy.
i know it's impossible to ignore what people say about you. it would piss me off, too. especially on my own website!
just know that you mean something to all of us, and we consider you a friend----even if we don't know you personally! It's not about the set length or your wardrobe, or how much time you need to yourself everyday that will determine how much success you achieve. It's about doing what you love for people that you love that will help you sleep at night.

we're with you 100% of the way (I think i speak for everyone there)!

Look at the band heart. When that lead singer gained weight thats all some people could talk about.Talk about hurtfull. It should always be about the music but there are a some of people who really dont know a lot about music they just jump on the bandwagon and follow the crowd instead of looking at what it should be all about the music.Joe seams to be a pefectionist and that leaves very little to squak about.I think he may be one of the best I have ever seen live sounding better than his cds
