"Is it the new blues mobile or what?"                                                                                                                                                                                                     "Fix the cigarette lighter."

Re: freddie king

The first black blues man I ever saw was Freddie King. My older cousin snuck me in. His band was the opening act.  Needles to say I was blown away. He was the real deal. I got to see him one more time open for Steve Miller in 74'

Re: freddie king

My favorite of the 3 Kings, especially during the Shelter years with Leon Russell producing and playin' with him.

That's funny, just yesterday, I was talking to the manager of a store I was in.....blues came up, one thing led to another, he mentioned the incredibly talented Miss Wilkenfeld, said to me, "I get goosebumps, just thinkin' about it", and then two seconds later, this big old burly manly man said, "Look, look, there they are....!!!".......as he proceeded to stick out his pipe like arms, one at a time to show me that they were, indeed, COVERED with goosebumps.

He went on to tell me that he knew EVERYTHING about the blues - that he was THE KING OF THE BLUES.  When I said to him, "Well then, I guess I don't have to tell you about Joe Bonamassa then, do I?"  He said, "Who?".  King of the blues - uh huh.  Well, I spent the next ten minutes giving him the Joe Bonamassa 101 class.  smile  NOW he knows ALMOST everything.

Yep, we got to see him 2 years ago this month.....just down the street......who'd have guessed......Jeff Beck, 10 minutes from our house!??!!  Ms. Wilkenfeld was not accompanying him that night - but he did have some great female vocalist (gutsy, gravely voice) sing a few numbers......I'll have to put my thinkin' cap on to come up with that name.

Rocket, I'm afraid we were dealing with someone who would need remedial training at the very least.  I really think he probably is going to fail the class altogether.......he kind of had that ....."Yeah, sure Lady, I already told you I know EVERYTHING there is to know", look about him.  Know-it-all-Knucklehead doesn't have a CLUE what he's missin'.
