Re: first gig

Wow...you're asking for access to brain cells long since, um....what were we talking about? Oh yeah, probably Led Zeppelin circa 1973 in Vancouver BC Canada.

Re: first gig

First gig? I don't know exact date but......THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND with JAMES MONTGOMERY opening. It was outdoors in Lenox Mass. The memorable things were $12.50 a ticket, motorcycle "gang" doing security and guy in wheelchair who couldn't see lifted up on to the stage and put next to Gregg Allman's keyboard. Dude was freaking!!!

"Is it the new blues mobile or what?"                                                                                                                                                                                                     "Fix the cigarette lighter."

Re: first gig

It was so long ago, I'm not sure.  It was either the Allman Brothers in Melbourne, FL, Johnny Winter in Orlando, Steppenwolf in Orlando or Chuck Berry in Orlando.  Wait, it may have been Leon Russell. I can't be sure. My memory of life back then is  a bit foggy. roll

Re: first gig

Hmm I think the first gig i went to was a local Led Zeppelin tribute band when I was 12 or so, If that counts.

Then the first "real" band I saw was Velvet Revolver in the Odysee in Belfast. I must have been aorund 14 then.

Re: first gig

Re: first gig

Mine.........July 23, 1978 "Day On The Green" Oakland Ca.    AC/DC  - Van Halen - Pat Travers - Foreigner - Aerosmith. I have no idea how or why my parents let me go.

The main memory, a small school boy running around the stage swinging his book satchel with smoke coming out of it and then picking up a guitar and the real smoke started (AC/DC fan ever since) ..........oh, and Aerosmith taking 2 hours to get on stage (the drug years for them).

Re: first gig

Sammy Hagar on his 'Red' tour at the Liverpool Empire.... really can't remember the year ... but it was late 70s I think.

Re: first gig

OMG!!!  I really had to think about this one but I eventually managed to retrieve the data from a very old back-up...:/

My first ever gig was the Rolling Stones in the Stadthalle in Vienna in 1965!!

My second gig was the Beatles at the old D.C. stadium (before it became RFK) in 1966!!

Gulp.

URIAH HEEP  Schaefer Music Festival Central Park 1972. It rained through the whole show but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Whats better than hangin with some friends and partying while groovin on some good live music.

Re: first gig

Probably the first band I saw live was the local band named Damnation Of Adam Blessing, sometime in the late 60s or early 70s. Was just a young kid at the time but was able to sneek into a high school dance through a side door. The band was getting much media attention and was set to go national with a big recording contract and they broke up. The singer in the band was Billy Constable Jr and was and still is one of the Very best male vocalists ive ever heard. They had a couple of reunion gigs in Cleveland a few years ago that I was fortunate enough to be able to film and record.
Here is one of the clips I put up onto Youtube recently, theyre cover of -
Morning Dew

Re: first gig

I think the first gig I went to was Nils Lofgren at the Liverpool Empire in 19seventysomething. Yeah he did the somersault thing. It was that one or else it was John Martyn whom I saw several times around the late seventies.

Aaaahh Memories, like the corners of my mind......

Re: first gig

WHY can you all remeber this?!

Even I can´t remember my very first gig, and I´m only 22! lol
Oh,  could be that I´m trying to banish a very unpleasant thought from my mind ... o.k., you´re ready for a SHOCKING confession?!

Yes, I was a boygroup fan when I was 12 years old - I liked a British group called "Five" and saw one of their concerts in the Wembley Stadium in London (of course this was the absolute highliht of my teenage life back then!). Well, all I can say in my defence is that they had at least A BIT of a rock-sound (for a boygroup...) and that they worked together with Brian May on a cover of "We will rock you" ... well, I better continue banishing the thought .... wink

But I´m sure that this wasn´t my first concert - I´ll keep on thinking ....

OK first was the Screaming Jets at Keele University - didn't get in just stood outside - it was that loud you could hear it all anyway - first outing with my boyfriend so good memories!

"Stellar" a word used by Joe Bonamassa (also apt as a description of the man himself cool)

Far out - when was this? I was at Keele from 71-75 big_smile

My musical highlight there was Kilburn and the Highroads!
