Topic: Hello from Ellan Vannin

Hi All,

Hope the subject line didn't make you scratch your heads too much, Ellan Vannin is probably better known as the Isle of Man...home of the Manx cat, the Great Laxey Wheel and of course Back Door Slam!

Anyway, I thought I would just drop in to say Hi and to say how much I have enjoyed reading the posts from people who (like me) really appreciate Joe and his talent, you really do have a great forum going on here!

We may be only a small Island, but Joe does have quite a following over here, who knows, maybe one day we may tempt him over, trouble is we may not let him leave!

Look forward to gettin' to know you all!

Cheers

Martin

OOOOOhhhhh Martin,

Take OUR Joe and never let him leave??!!!  I think NOT!!  We are happy to SHARE Joe with you, but you can't have him ALL to yourselves!

Welcome to the Forum!!!  You will find us to be a very warm, friendly, fun loving bunch!  We are ALL HUGE Joe fans, and many of us are rather fond of your Back Door Slam lads as well!

Cheers!

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Hi Libby

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It's ok...I was only joking, honest, we are more than happy to share (think I better stop before I get into even more trouble eh!).

Must admit I've been looking at the forum for quite a while and it has a real good vibe to it, only trouble is that this is the first time I have ever posted on any forum, so please excuse me if I slip up a bit to start (like saying we would keep Joe...ooops!!!!).

Yes Martin, I will forgive you.  This is the first forum that I've ever participated in as well.  I'm still relatively new myself and am sure that I have made more than my share of goof-ups, mistakes, and blunders!  Eeeeek!  You can tell by the number of posts next to my name that I'm not enjoying myself here at all.  Nope, not at all!

Re: Hello from Ellan Vannin

Hey Martin,

A very warm welcome from me too  - Welcome to the family! smile

I guess half or more of the Bonafamilia is already affected by the "BDS-virus" ... in a very positive way ... your little Island seems to be a very inspiring place for talented young musicians. I hope the guys become as famous over here as they already are in America. Well, at least they´ve got one German fan already wink.

Hope you post often and tell us some stories from your beautiful Island (at least I imagine it to be beautiful lol)!

Glad you came in Martin. Many of us never posted on forums before this. It's a very special place..but you'll see for yourself. I add a vote for stories from Ellan Vannin. Davy's Dad's music collection must be top notch. Thank him from us all. And..What could we take them besides tea. There must be something specific to your little isle..A special treat? Just let us know. Thanks again for posting!    Cathy

Re: Hello from Ellan Vannin

thanks for letting BDS come to the US, looking forward to seeing them in the MotorCity (Detroit)
I'm on the street team and distributing posters as we speak.

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: Hello from Ellan Vannin

A very warm welcome from me too Martin.
Wasn't the Isle of Man famous for its motorracing? A lot ( not me) motorriders on this forum, there is an item about it on the forum somewhere.

Like Libby this is my first and only forum, Turbo Libby as I call her is so fast with her messages 'think she doesn't have a job. doesn't clean the house, doesn't come outside.....
only forum, forum, forum!!!!

It took her a few months to almost reach 500 posts, took the normal people al least some years, so don't be ashamed not to be so fast as her.
But keep posting please we like to hear your stories too and it doesn't matter what the subject is, we talk and if necessary help eachother.

We really have something togethet going on on this forum and mant met at shows.

Thanks for joining,

Andre Wittebroek

Re: Hello from Ellan Vannin

Welcome to the forum Martin, you will always find a warm welcome here. Ahhh yes the beautiful Isle of Man holds a special place in my heart for two or three reasons. Firstly the beauty of the place (on a fine day of course) - absolutely stunning - that view of Calf Sound from the cafe is truely wonderful. Then there's the diving - Awesome - 100ft visabilty on a good day. lots of marine life, dolphins and Basking Sharks. diving is something the island tourist board should do more to promote - what a place, everything on your doorstep. Then there's the motorsport - what can you say? The TT was 100 years old last year, the road racing capital of the world, The Manx Trophy Rally - sheer blood curdling excitement over closed public roads - the sight of a full works escort, flat out sideways at over a ton is probably a vision that will live with me forever. Just don't let the Steam Packet Company ruin it all by overcharging the way they do!

Sorry about that - got carried away, cos I'm offf to the TT at the end of May for a week, but disappointed that BDS won't be on the Island. Joe would need to play there during TT week to get the attendance I guess, but if he were to do that he would need to schedule gigs in Liverpool on the way there and Heysham on the way back (private joke between me and Martin eh?)

Welcome aboard my friend!

Re: Hello from Ellan Vannin

Hi Martin. Welcome to this lovely forum. I am still only a novice at this forum carry on and I don't belong to any others. I don't think I could find the time for another one. I can hardly find time for this one but it is a great place to hang out. It's full of lovely people like Little Miss Sunshine, the lovely Libby turbo poster! I don't know how she finds the time either!

My first and only visit to the Island you call home was back in 1971. My family went there for a weeks holiday. Unfortunately my abiding memory is of slashing my foot on a piece of glass on Laxey beach. I had to go to hospital and have five stitches! I was only 10, aaaah. Still got the scar to show.

I still remember it as a beautiful place. You are very lucky to live there. Have you got any other great little bands like BDS hidden away?

Regards.....Tripsy smile
