Tonights the night, tune in Jimmy Kimmel @ midnight on ABC to catch the lads tear it up on national TV. When the hell is Joe gonna get a break like this? I just don't get it, what the F***?????

Re: BDS TONIGHT

I'm ready!!! I don't understand either, Dawg..BDS gives out credit cards with their site and a free download code on the back! Seems WM agency could afford it if BDS can!!! Cathy

Re: BDS TONIGHT

Hey, that's a good idea! Why not include it on the back of the tickets sold or if that's not possible, at the door - or is that preaching to the converted - I wonder, mmmmm Neat though, I like it!

Re: BDS TONIGHT

I just watched it and it was SUPER! Played "Come Home" and Davy really got to show his skills!!! HDTV, excellent sound and camera work. Kimmel was impressed! Feel proud for some weird reason! See them while you can. I'm not kidding! Cathy

Re: BDS TONIGHT

I thought they looked and sounded FANTASTIC.

Sadly, that show is not shown in HD in my neck of the woods Cathy......it doesn't even make sense to me that you would get to see it in HD and I wouldn't - also - the show looked to be running long and, at least on my TV - they didn't get an intro - the show just came back from commercial break with the first note of the song - then, they cut to Jimmy the SECOND the song ended, and didn't pan back to BDS after Jimmy mentioned their CD again and thanked them - they panned to the show's band and let them play them out.  I just wish they'd been able to spend 30 seconds talking to them.......you know, let everyone get bowled over by their charm and modesty.

Still, a VERY COOL opportunity for the lads from the Isle of Man, and, I repeat - they SOUNDED incredible and I'm very impressed with such great composure coming out of such young lads - can you imagine?

Meanwhile........it's 186 hours for me (but who's counting?)

P.S.  I agree, John.  When will it be Joe's turn?  It makes no sense.  And Cathy, I felt the same swelling of pride - makes even less sense for me than you - I haven't even seen them yet!!!  Guess it's just the LOVEFEST spirit......it's got a hold on me.  smile

I have to agree with the above sentiment. I've got a few songs from Itunes from BDS, and I think they are OK but I don't get all rabid about them. In fact I don't think I'd spend another .99 on them, thats just me. Obviously they are liked.

As a fan, friend, street team member, promoter of JB.......I still cannot get over the fact that Joe does not get this kind of exposure here in the US. It is a little disheartening, but at the same time someone has to stand up and be outraged over this (or many someones) or it ain't ever going to change.

It appears to me that it would be pretty easy to ask BDS (or anyone) who got them booked on these shows while swinging through the states. Since I obviously don't know how that works (I'd have fixed it by now if I could), somebody needs to step up and make this happen.

I also noticed that BDS's CD just passed "Sloe Gin" on the charts. One on the way up and one on the way down.

These frustrations are what brought me to volunteer and invest money/time in trying to promote Joe, as is the same with other long timers here. Sometimes I think we get caught up in the machine and forget to take a step back and say "something is not right here".

Re: BDS TONIGHT

well the problem is you are comparing them.  back door slam are some really talented players.  however, to me they are not the best blues rock has to offer.  we are all going to have differing opinions on that, but i think yo u just need to be happy when any real music breaks through at this point no one really knows why.  so you can talk about who deserves it more etc, but that talk will go nowhere as most of the big acts are mediocre schlock in it for the money who don't deserve to have a fanbase at all.  at least back door slam is a cool band that sounds good and has heart.  more than cvan be said for a lot of the people above them on the charts

Re: BDS TONIGHT

BDS got that gig because of their "people" not their fans. The negotiations happen at a much higher level than we are privy to. It's up to those that get the big bucks to make this happen. A car's only as good as it's engine. I'll do anything I can to spread the "Word of Joe" but I'm a mere mortal.    Cathy

Re: BDS TONIGHT

I had heard from a source not to be named that Joe was scheduled for Jimmy Kimmel during the writers strike.
I guess the show was in reruns because of that. I don't know because I have never stayed up for it.

I did DVR last nights show to catch BDS. It started late so I missed a minute of the song or so. My feelings in that short amount of exposure time to them are. He has a good voice. It is good old fasioned blues rock. I think it is great they are gettin exposure whatever reason. Their needs to be a blues rock band hit a more mainstream audience. I always thought it would be Joe.

It still could be Joe. We just don't know what it would be like if he were to get some national exposure. I think Joe's power would come over the television to the power of 10 compared to BDS. Not slighting them in the least. There is just not a lot of artists in any genre that can do what he can with one song.

As far as getting on one of the late night shows it is clearly not an easy task. I don't know whose palm you got to grease and for how much or maybe just some photos of someone in compromising positions are needed.

Obviously Joe got on a late night show with Bloodline so somebody knows.

Re: BDS TONIGHT

I can't believe I missed it.  Don;t see it on youtube, and for some reason the episode, but not BDS is on the ABC web site.  That stinks...

That's exactly what I was saying.

I'm not "comparing" BDS to JB; there is no comparison.

I'm just saying that if they are getting on these shows, Joe should be on these shows. That's all.

I don't know who is making it happen for BDS and I don't know who is not making it happen for JB. But there IS a way to get it done.

So because of the people that get the big bucks, BDS is going to be this year's Los Lonely Boys. I'm sure a Grammy is coming for them too.

I wouldn't go that far. Los Lonely Boys were on a big label with a radio hit. I could go to any store that carried cd's and find a display of their cd. I had to special order BDS cd from the local chain and it took 2 weeks for it to come from their small label.

Not to beat this into the floor, but thats not the case entirely. LLB was on a small label (Or Music) when it was initially released. A major label picked it up (Epic) for distibution. So initiailly, it wasn't in all the stores and they had no radio airplay. With the backing of Willie Nelson and some others they got the thing moving. Once Epic got behind the marketing of it, that's when it got in all the stores and on the radio.

I'm not begrudging them their successes; either band. It's just a level of frustration that boils with me because I believe JB is much better than those two bands and is not getting his due.

I also believe if we (us and whoever gets the big bucks) keep saying its understandable why everyone gets that stuff but Joe, nothing is ever going to change.

I'm not willing to accept that.

Re: BDS TONIGHT

The way I look at it, any time someone with some real talent gets some exposure, it's a small victory for all of the guys like Joe toiling away in the musical vineyards that it can happen.  I love BDS and just think that if that sort of music enters the mainstream then it can only help guys like Joe.

Also, deserve doesn't have anything to do with it.  Maybe somebody's cousin heard them play and loved it, or maybe the backroom politics did the job.  Either way, I'm glad some good music got it's day in the sun.  Now onward and upward in terms of getting it for Joe.  No point in being catty about it.  I'm happy for BDS.

Re: BDS TONIGHT

Another thing.  I saw a show on HBO or somewhere recently called "When Standup Stood Out," that talked about the turn of events that had the Boston Comedy scene get noticed.  It turned around the fact that Johnny Carson's talent guy Peter Lasally was going to be in town to look at colleges with one of his kids and he "discovered" Steven Wright.  There was a lot of feeling by other of the comedians that they "deserved it" more than the guys who got the exposure.  But to me it just shows how accidental the nature of fame can be.  The right guy in the right place at the right time.  If there was a formula then everyone would follow it and the talent would rise to the top.

Plus, like Joe has given exposure to bands he likes by playing them on his radio show or whatever, if like minded people get in a position to put in a good word for someone, Joe looks to be in a good position there.  I'd rather be happy for those who make it and continue to try to get Joe over the hump too than to hold a grudge.

Re: BDS TONIGHT

I didn't see the Kimmel show, but I'll tell you, the BDS show on Sunday in Chicago was electric. I haven't seen too many performers create a buzz like that. Joe always creates that buzz with the crowd.
Like Joe, you can't really grasp the full talent of BDS until you've seen them live. Davy can FLAT OUT play the guitar.  He's not quite on Joe's level, but who is?
As far as media attention, I'm not giving up but I've sort of come to the conclusion that a bunch of fans writing the late night shows has little or no effect. Sorry, maybe it's some frustration on my part, but I've written a bunch of letters and know that lots of Joe fans have done the same. I'm glad that BDS made an appearance and am happy for them, however, I can't imagine their appearance was in anyway related to a write in campaign.
