Topic: Return to Forever

Excerpt from an email received this morning, regarding upcoming shows at Seattle's Paramount Theatre:

After a touring absence of more than 25 years, the potent jazz-rock flagship quartet edition of Return to Forever returns in 2008. This highly anticipated reunion will see the group’s classic lineup—Chick Corea on keyboards, Al Di Meola on guitar, Stanley Clarke on bass and Lenny White on drums—embark on an expansive summer tour with dates in Europe and the United States.

What a lineup Stu, sounds like that would be a great show to see...

Thanks for the heads up Stu!
I was fortunate enough to see RTF and later to see Al Dimeola on his own. He was the last guitarist, before Joe, that left me almost speechless.

Re: Return to Forever

Just got tickets to Indig02 - the only gig in the UK (4 rows back should be great!) - Terry is really looking forward to this - all 4 original members on stage at the same time WOW!

I am also looking forawrd to this because although i've listened to their stuff and also as solo artists/other ventures - mainly Chick Corea and Al Di Meola - i've never had the opportunity to see them live! should be great - now all i have to do is get time off work and sort out the travel to London; shame it's a Monday; boy my holidays are going fast this year! But not to worry i've got some in reserve for November - although the gigs that I can logistically attend being Manchester, Birmingham and London are all/mostly at the weekend I think!

I can also check out the venue for Joe's gig there in November - does anyone know whether it will be fully seated like RTF?  I know Joe likes the theatre atmosphere and i'm guessing it will be seated - well here's looking forward to row 4,3,2,1 in November!!!!!!

Re: Return to Forever

I was a fan of these guys back in the '70's. These guys are all incredible musicians. They were probably the first jazz-fusion group I listened to. I've never seen any of these guys live - solo or group, and I would love to be able to see their show in Minneapolis. The tickets are priced a little higher than I really want to spend right now so I'm going to wait it out and see if I can find some on Craigslist or something.

Re: Return to Forever

Sounds great, but they better keep rehearsing so they can throw it all out & away when Rocket goes to see them! A bit of hyperbole saying "Return To Forever getting back together is the biggest thing that can happen musically, I think, in the next 20 years from here on..."  although my feelings are very intense and excitement level extremely high... Cannot do anything but outright disagree with that statement.  But surely this is BIG NEWS and has got me JAZZED cool

Just checked Tickets Now for RTF tickets June 18th in Omaha.
4 tickets ( 2nd tier ) were available at $316 each. WAY too rich for my thin blood.
Hope they'll make a DVD. That I MIGHT afford.

DID attend a free Di Meola guitar clinic a few years back & it was great !

Re: Return to Forever

I'm a Beatles fan, but if John Lennon and George Harrison crawled out of their graves for one last Beatles show, I wouldn't pay $316 to attend.
RTF...no way!

Those are probably part of one of the VIP packages. Regular priced seats are a lot less than that. Decent seats are about $95 with all the ticketmaster fees for the Minneapolis show, but they start at around $55.
