Topic: What's your pedal history?

Well, we've already had topics on your guitar history and amp history... this one could get a little out of hand for lifers that have owned 50+ pedals over time. I've only played for about 10 years and I can keep my list fairly short. If you feel so inclined, you can whittle your list down to several of your favorites/best-tones. My list is fairly obvious stuff you can find in a Guitar Center, so I'd love to hear some of the rare finds or boutique pedals you've come across, too.

Distortion: Boss Blues Driver, Boss DS-1, Voodoo Lab Superfuzz, Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-9, Marshall Guv'nor. My favorite is the Boss Blues Driver set with the tone around 9 o'clock and the gain around 2-3 o'clock.

I also use a Dunlop Crybaby Wah, Morley Bad Horsie 2 Wah, Marshall Regenerator, Boss DD-3 delay, and once in a while an Aphex Guitar Exciter. I get a lot of mileage out of the Regenerator because it is two choruses, two phasers, flange, and a UniVibe all in one.

Have fun!

Re: What's your pedal history?

Fulltone '69 fuzz (really drives a blues deluxe :x) and a Dunlop Crybaby Rarely use the crybaby infact only at jam nights for a mess around, but the '69 is always in my rigs whether im gonna use it or not just like having that option...

Looking at mebe investing in a delay but dont really have the time to go try some atm, I hear good things about the dd3. Also contemplating trying a tube screamer ts-808 but the fuzz really is a brilliant little pedal (not to mention its like a brick I couldnt see it breaking).

Settings I guess;
Spring Reverb (off the Blues Deluxe) @ 6-7 - yer I love it dripping in reverb smile
Fuzz - 12 O'Clock Volume, Bias at almost full (though with a wah it makes it screechy so I drop bias totally off), Contour 2 O'Clock, and fuzz at 3 O'Clock. Lets me mess with the volume nob for clean and fuzzy basically.

The Wah I opened up and moved the roller so it had more deep end bloody thing was so screechy when I got it.

Re: What's your pedal history?

Current pedalboard in order:
-Peterson strobostomp tuner (most accurate stomp box tuner)
-Budda Bud Wah
-Fulltone Fulldrive 2
-Analogman MiniChorus
-Keeley modded Ibanez AD9 (analog delay)-I don't plug in the delay much. I can't get any delay to sound good going into the front of the amp, but don't want to run through the effects loop because it's a pain running 2 long guitar cables to the back of the amp.
-Powered by Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2

Re: What's your pedal history?

Right or wrong, I think the better amp that you use, less you need pedals or something on that order.; but I do have a: Keeley upgrade TS9
Zendrive (now I really like her)
                                          Keeley original compressor
Expect a SRV-212 rotary monday on mail plane

Got to order one of those carbon copys pretty quick too.

To me pedals are nice to play around with, buy when cheap, trade with friends, but one can spend some bucks quick on pedals; before ya know it could have bought a nice amp head.

Re: What's your pedal history?

I do believe it's all about the amp. When I was young road dog (over 30 years ago- egads) it was a Super Lead into a 4x12 cab and an honest-to-goodness tape Echoplex. But now I play places where diming the amp just isn't apropriate (church and other similar environments). I'm learning that the judicious use of the right pedal can get pretty close to the amp on 10 sound and save everyone's hearing, including what's left of mine. So...

Voodoo Labs tremolo
Boss DD-3
Boss TU-2
BBE Boosta Grande
Boss Blues Driver (for the screaming Fender thing)
Boss DS-1 (Keeley Ultra mod, for the screaming Marshall thing)
Cry Baby Classic
Whirlwind AB Selector (4x10 DeVille, Tiny Terror)

Blessings,
Larry

Re: What's your pedal history?

Boss SD-1 (modded the clipping section and few other things-my personal favorite)
Boss DS-1 (used only on rare occasions-w/ 'JCM' mod
Crybaby JH-1 (older model...modded to have more gain, range and vocal qualities)
Vox Wah (factory-adding a LED later this week for fun)
Boss CH-1
Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Pedal- Just got this one.  It's a BEAST in front of any tube amp.
I've got a Rotovibe somewhere around this place thats fun to toy to have around and several other clones that I've built recently.  Might hook up an Area 51 bit to replace the guts of my JH-1 that died yesterday.

I normally only have 2 or 3 effects at a single time in the chain.  I vary them up sometimes  just to keep things fresh.  I like the mods to talor the sound to what rig I use.

Re: What's your pedal history?

Oooh pedals are fun.  I wish I could sound all hard core and be like "yeah i dont need em" buttt theyre fun and I cant resist.

lets see

Dunlop Cry Baby (retired completely)
Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer
Dunlop Univibe  (need to get this out again..)
Fulltone FullDrive 2
Vox Wah Wah (best wah i own)
Ernie Ball Volume Pedal Jr.
Tubescreamer Soundtank (garage sale find, always fun)
Boss DD6 Delay
Boss TU2 Tuner
Electro Harmonix Nano Dr Q (total piece of **##, replaced by the Guyotone)
Guyatone Wah Rocker Synth Wah
Little Big Muff (not what I hoped it would be)
DigiTech Chorus (I dont like digitech, but you cant argue with 20 bucks at a pawnshop)
Marshall Reflector Reverb (for my amp without reverb)
Whirlwind Selector Switch (for when im feeling rested enough for two amps)

Thats about all Ive got.  I dont use them all at once, dont have enough patch cords, and Im not smart enough to arrange and manage that many.

Vox Wah
Electro Harmonix Qtron
Boss RC-20XL Loop Station
Fulldrive 2

I like all the pedals I currently have except for my wah which I want to upgrade to a Teese Picture Wah and the Digitech Chorus which I will upgrade to a Leslie Simulator like a Rotosphere.

Pedals I Need To Get:

CHicago Iron Octavian or a Fulltone Octafuzz
Some kind of Tremolo pedal

A delay, either a DL4 or a T-Rex Replica.

That's ironic.  Pretty much all I have is  Teese Picture wah, a Fulltone trem, a H&K Rotosphere and a Replex.

I have a bunch of good MV amps, which allow great tones at modest volumes, so boost and dirt pedals are not something I need.  I've thought about a digital delay as well, to make it wasier to dial in the Edge or Floyd, but haven't done anything yet.

Music is in the spaces, so is life.

Re: What's your pedal history?

Ibanez TS9 (seems to be a constant here...) I'm looking to send it in to Keeley when I scrape some money together.
Vox Wah
Boss Tuner
and a Tube Driver, courtesy of BK Butler

I used to play through a Line 6 so I had this need board where you could change channels, use wah, volume, it was cool. I also had a talk box which I sold because it was fun but it wasn't the real thing, so you couldn't use it clean, it would always be distorted. The overdrive knob almost served as a volume knob...

I'm looking to get the green Line 6 delay, a Keeley Java Boost and Fuzz Head. Maybe some kind of Leslie simulator one of these days, that'll be several amps and guitars down the road.

Re: What's your pedal history?

Musicinmysoul, Tell me about the Butler Tube Driver.  I hear it's the one for NOS tubes.  I've never seen one myself, keep thinking about one, but the 300 just keeps it in my thoughts.  Is it that much different, better than other overdrive pedals;;; or is it like a zendrive (half dozen other pedals sound similiar)?  What would you compare the tube driver to?

Re: What's your pedal history?

Ibanez tube screamer TS-7
Original Dunlop Cry Baby Wah Pedal

My amp has onboard effects so I don't need to many pedals

The tubes are pretty easy to swap in and out if that's your deal. In fact, the original owner had put in a different tube and put the original one back in before sending it to me. I've never really heard anything that sounds similar to the Tube Driver, it's pretty unique. Playing with it doesn't just give you and Eric Johnson-y sound...you can get it if you want by messing with the knobs though.
