Darrin...I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through.  I haven't been there but have friends that have, and it's not easy.  I wish I could say something to help...just believe that things will work out.  Hang in there...

Just want to drop a line to say I am still alive and doing OK. The store I worked at was purchased by another owner and will supposedly be reopened in about 4 weeks. Met with the new owner a few days ago. Rate of pay will be close to the same (which is only about enough to survive on, as I think Barbara and Pittsburgh Jeff will attest, because this is a depressed area that we live in,so companys here cannot afford to make anyone but themselves rich). I also will be stripped of health benefits that were previously provided for free. The last week I have played golf everyday,so life is not all that bad for now. However most of next week will be set aside to go out and put applications in to various places. I have been a meatcutter all of my life so career wise I dont know what else I would do, but maybe I'll get lucky and find something in another field. This is the fourth time in 23 years that the rug has been pulled out from under my feet, so I would like to find a more stable career if there is such a thing. Thanks again to all for helping me keep my chin up through this.    DARRIN

Hi Darrin.  Really good to hear from you.  I was glad to read you are moving forward in your job quest.  So, you can possibly go back to work at your old place of employment with no benefits and close to the same pay.  What are you going to do?  Are you going to take the job?  If you do, you still could look for a better position somewhere else.  For now enjoy being outdoors and playing lots of golf.  Stay positive, hang in there and keep open to new challenges and other options.  Wishing you many happy days to come.

Exactly, Darrin.  If I were you, in these days of uncertainty, if that job is yours for the taking, then TAKE IT.  You can always move on later.  But, a job, any job, at less pay and without benefits, is better than no job.  Just ask my friend who I told you about privately.

Funny also that you brought up golf.  It's the one thing I think I forgot to mention in my email to you.  When my husband went thru this years ago, the driving range became his place of solace......quiet, peaceful, contemplative......all good. 

We will continue to have you in our thoughts and prayers.
