Topic: New CD from the Black Keys

"Attack and Release" is the new cd by the Black Keys that comes out on April 1st.  Here's a cool article in (of all places) the Wall Street Journal about the Keys:

I sent the author an email thanking him and with a link to Joe's website.  A similar piece about Joe would be good publicity.  We can only hope.  At least they're into something other than the tyranny of the Top 40.

Re: New CD from the Black Keys

Great news, I love the Black Keys. Thanks for the notice.
My two daughters and their boyfriends have tickets to see the Black Keys on April 12th. Older daughters boyfriend just got booked for a gig that night, so two tickets became available, one of which was offered to me. I'm at a convention in Vegas the 9th thru the 12th. Unfortunately, I just found out my plane doesn't land until 5PM, making it almost impossible to get to the show, unless I went straight there from the airport...assuming no delays (I've never had a flight from Vegas get back to Chicago on time).
Oh well, next time they're around.

Re: New CD from the Black Keys

I have just picked up a copy of "Attack and Release" and have to say it's a departure from usual.  If anything I would have to say it's "bluesier" than the previous albums and you can definately hear influences from Dangermouse as the new producer.  The gritty sound and riffs are still there however.  I like it.

I'm going to see them when they come to Glasgow in May and have read that the new material is being reworked for the live shows due to the extra instrumentation on the album.

I'll be seeing them in Glasgow too Steve. I think its Thursday 22nd May at ABC

I've heard a couple of the new songs, looking forward to hearing the new album, it appears to have divided opinion, but I think they did need to change their sound slightly
