Topic: Zeppelin in no hurry to release reunion show DVD

Mirror.co.uk reports that LED ZEPPELIN will not release a DVD or CD of their one-off comeback concert. Thousands of music lovers who could not get tickets for their O2 gig in December had been hoping they could watch or listen at home. But guitarist Jimmy Page said: "It was recorded — but we didn't go in with the express purpose of making a DVD to come out at Christmas, or whatever." Page said a future release "at some distant point" was remotely possible.

LED ZEPPELIN's Robert Plant has said that it is still highly unlikely that the band will go on a full-blown world tour, but there is a chance of more one-off perfomances, if the reason was right.

Speaking in the new (May 2008) edition of Uncut magazine, the singer said: "Hopefully, one day, we could do it again. Our profit is — it's metaphysical."

The group's bassist John Paul Jones added: "We (Jones and guitarist Jimmy Page) spoke afterwards, and we both thought the same — it felt like the first night of a tour. You think, 'Oh, I could do that a bit better, or change something in that song.' And we didn't get a chance to do any more."

I'd love to have that DVD...but who am I?

Re: Zeppelin in no hurry to release reunion show DVD

I don't understand why they would record it but not plan on releasing it on DVD.  Is it for themselves to watch?  I am so confused here.

Re: Zeppelin in no hurry to release reunion show DVD

Not sure if its the same for all three members but I get a sense it was an 'indulgence' on the part of Plant... the others would tour if it was up to them. From what I read/heard its was Plant who struggled the most with his performance and perhaps its more to do with that than anything else. As for doing something for the fans, i'm sorry to say when they reach that level(legends) they don't think about the fans anymore .. they dont have to. Its a rare thing to find a 'legend' who is still 'hooked into' the fans. Sorry I could decend into a rant if i'm not careful.

Re: Zeppelin in no hurry to release reunion show DVD

I've read the whole part of this interview on Zeppelin's forum. Page said the reason why it would be a while is because it is a monumental task, and he would want to get it right. That's basically what he said.

As far as them touring, even if they did, it would cost an arm and a leg, so I'm not really that concerned with them touring or not.

Re: Zeppelin in no hurry to release reunion show DVD

I'm just kinda turned off by the whole situation.  The legends that I like are still into their fans.  Why not release a CD or something.  Just seems like they are just in it for themselves.  I don't think a performer should ever forget that the fans are the ONLY reason they are what they are.  I love Zeppelin...but as far as I'm concerned the band has been done since the 80s. I'm just upset, that's all.  I'm a huge fan and why should I be if the band doesn't give 2 $h|ts

Re: Zeppelin in no hurry to release reunion show DVD

The bands I like do what they do because they still love it and want to do it. If Robert Plant doesn't want to do it, then why would I want to listen to him. He'd be going through the motions. You don't want Robert Plant going through the motions. You want him giving it his all.

Re: Zeppelin in no hurry to release reunion show DVD

I can understand not touring...lets face it, Robert Plant had enough problems with his voice during Zeppelin's glory days, and he's not getting any younger, but a DVD for  something that awaited by all their fans....I agree it should be released for those who couln't see the show.
