The forum elders, having established a wonderful virtual understanding, will be meeting in real life at the end of May!

Yes y'all, I am coming to the US for three purposes - to meet Granny Cath, to attend the Birchmere show with her, and to attend my grand-daughter's second birthday. I am also becoming a grand-dad for the second time later this year. big_smile

This news fills me with such a degree of excitement that mere words cannot do justice to my happiness.

59 days to go.

What a moment that will be when you and Cathy finally meet up.  I'll be getting the Kleenex ready for that.  Be sure and take some photos for us all, y'all (or is that y'all all?).

Come one, come all! This will be my 2nd international guest. Let's see, Holland, England....many countries still needed..Maybe I should start posting the flags around my deck like the U.N.. As Forum Elders we will establish guidelines for proper behavior...yea, right!..But it's going to be a great time and I know it will put a smile on Joe's face to see Amsterhammer there. I guess this means I have to clean my house..59days..hope I can get it done by then.     Cathy

If anyone still needs tickets to the Birchmere I can get them sans the Ticketmaster fee.  Also I could put up 1 to 2 people if you don't mind a day bed and a comfy couch.

It took a numerologist of my acquaintance to point out that the 59 days just happened to coincide with my age, and would soon coincide with the other elder's age too. I honestly hadn't noticed.

Spooky, huh? Kind of like the tea thing too.

He's not kidding, Roy.  Here's a quote from George ......

Thanks for un-fuddling Roy's perception. If memory serves (which it often doesn't anymore) my introductory post said something very much like, "I'm a 58 year old American living in Amsterdam....."

I am a mere accident of history, Roy. I'm also not a 'real' American, though I have the passport. The last time I spent more than a few weeks in the US was my first semester at university in 1966. In fact, this visit will be my longest since then.

Another jaw-dropping realization.

Oh yeah, and I can spell both kinds, English and American. big_smile

Do not be confused - here: I am a US citizen, born in Austria, lived in England for 19 years, have now lived in Amsterdam for 19 years and yes, I've been a helpless Hammer fan since 1968. big_smile

That is actually wishful thinking on Roy's part.  After his nether regions got frostbit while grilling in harem pants out in the subzero weather, he switched to speedos and sunglasses in an effort to hasten spring time.
