queen and paul rodgers have just announced a tour.people have been writing to our local paper saying"how can they replace freddie" and "he sounds nothing like freddie".personally i think paul sounds good singing the queen songs, they have,nt tried to "replace" freddie that would be impossible he was a one off.i will definitely be going to see them in october
ps freddie once said that paul rodgers was his favourite singer of all time.do you think that might have something to do with brian and roger getting him  steve

Steve,

Definitely go and see them.  I believe you will thoroughly enjoy it.  They put on a great Arena Concert that will encapsulate you right into their music.  They should be doing new songs off their new release.  The planned date of their album is September 1, two weeks ahead of the start of their tour.  The reason they are called Queen + Paul Rodgers is to show they are not trying to replace Freddie.  It really is an effort to try to meld the sounds of Queen and Paul Rodgers adding musical styles from both.  Queen wasn't looking for a new singer when this happened. They played at the UK Music Hall of Fame awards together and this is where the idea took hold.  They had a natural chemistry between them and decided this is what they want to do.  During this time Brian May completed his doctorate thesis in astrophysics.  He is quite amazing.  Here is a song they did for Nelson Mandela's 46664 HIV AIDS charity that Roger Taylor wrote.  Just this one song for me, makes it all worth it that they got together.  I love everything about this song.  I love that Roger, Brian and Paul shared vocal arrangements on this song coinciding with the Queen + Paul Rodgers theme of the band.  Also I think the vocal arrangement adds more depth and feeling to the message of the song. And then of course you have that Queen empowerment of music and it fades to Paul singing the last note acapella.
