Yep. One of the GREAT ones!!

Thanks Patty! Next to Joe, I've seen various combinations of the Allman Bros. more than any other band.
Probably 10 or 12 times if you count Gregg and Dicky Betts solo shows.
Statesboro Blues is definitely one of my favorites.

Hey Bill,
I was at an Allman Brothers Tribute Show a couple weekends ago and was talking with the brother of the Allman's tour manager and I believe I heard him say that Dickey was in real bad shape again.......funny thing about talking with this guy from Des Moines, Joe Beacon in NY (our man inexile) knows him, too. Small world, huh?
Patty
P.S. I'll bet you're fun at an Allman's show, too!
I have an interesting story about Dickey Betts. His daughter Cristy married my husband's cousin Arlie in Statesville, NC about 16 years ago... the marriage didn't last long, but it was a fantastic wedding!
The rehearsal dinner was an outdoor barbeque hosted by the bride's parents. Dickey and his wife Donna were there. My husband Lee tried to jump into every family picture - he was starstruck.
There were two receptions, one hosted by the bride's mother (who was married to drummer Joe English, formerly of Paul McCartney's Wings and a born again Christian), a very proper punch and cake affair at the church. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_English_(musician)
The second reception was hosted by Dickey and Donna, a Saturday night blow out dinner at a really nice restaurant (closed for the occasion). Huge fabulous food, but best yet was a live performance by Dickey and members of his band from Georgia. They played a full evening, with Dickey getting on stage to sing to his daughter (Blue Sky, Jessica [who was also there, an older sister to Cristy] and Ramblin' Man, etc.). We were on the dance floor, dancing and punching each other and shouting, "Can you believe this????" We've seen the Allman Brothers and Dickey peforming on his own many times since then, but we never have had as much fun as we did that evening at the 'private concert.' We have an old VHS tape that we made of the reception, I'll have to dig it out!

Patty,
I was (and still am) a huge fan of the AB's. I never missed a show when they came through Chicago. I saw Gregg at the HOB's within the last year or os, with Devon and Honeydrippers backing him up.
Great show and pretty special to see them on stage together.
Anne,
You not only need to dig out that VHS, but you should have it bronzed too! (or at the very least, tranferred to DVD.
I just found this review of a Kid Rock concert, evidently Dickey Betts and his son Duane are playing with him in a short segment of the concert, as recently as March 18th in Roanoke VA, so he's still out there doing his thing!

He's also touring, with a pretty full schedule: http://www.dickeybetts.com/
