Topic: Thanks Marianne

On the occasion of my 400th post I'd like to thank my parents, without whom none......etc

No really, I have to thank Marianne because she directed me here, to this strangely wonderful and thoroughly addictive place, inhabited by some truly exceptional people. I have been fortunate in making new friends here, some of whom I have met at concerts, many more of whom I probably won't meet till next April.

So many of you have been kind, helpful and supportive when I needed help. Joe's music, this forum, and the relationships I have built with some of you, have been the bridge that has carried me from dark days to increasingly better days. For that I shall be eternally grateful.

Above all though, mere words cannot express how important our forum Granny Cathy has been in my healing process. She sent me an astonishingly kind email when I first registered here, a mere five months ago, and we kept in casual touch from then. I had a little emotional dip on Valentine's day, which prompted another particularly lovely mail from her, and we've now been in daily contact since then.

Dear Cathy, you are a glorious kindred spirit who has come to mean the world to me this last month. My life is so much better for knowing you. Thank you for filling one particular void in my life! I only hope our first meeting comes before the RAH, so we can meet without everyone watching. big_smile

RIP Iron Man

Re: Thanks Marianne

This forum would be a lesser place without you my friend. I look forward to meeting you in person around the time of the RAH gig.

Re: Thanks Marianne

Sorry Joe, you've lost me on this one. Maybe you'd care to explain.

Joe it is really your call whether you stay on the forum. But when you make a mockery of someone's serious post you have to think it can be misconstrued what your meaning is. Your obsession with controversy real or imagined over whether your contributions are welcomed is getting old.

Where is the old Joe Beacon. The one that taped the shows that so many of us enjoyed. Only posting when you had something important to let us know about. The sense of humor you have shown us latley has been juvenile and disruptive to the forum.

I don't want the Joe Beacon that used to post here to go away. I just want the one that has been posting latley to quietly disappear.

Re: Thanks Marianne

George, You sure have a way with words. When you came to the forum you touched lots of people with your story. And soon you were wrapped warmly in the blanket of humanity that resides in this fine place. There is magic in Joe's music and it's soul. Joe's fans share that same kind of soul (most do). And it's been our pleasure to watch you become "lighter", even to reach out to others. That's how we roll here. Now you won't see me post often in the gear section, I have no expertise. I only comment on the beauty of guitars and the word Humbucker ("cause it cracks me up!")...But having 35 years as an ICU then Hospice RN makes me the "first responder" to sickness and grief....And now a joyful time for you ..2 shows (including the "miracle" tickets), a chance to talk to Joe. It was nice to read the reviews and see the pictures. The Universe and your dear Joke are telling you to be full of life again. Nice that you are listening. So, thanks for the kind words, my dear friend. It's nice to have you here....now that's enough...people will talk.   Cathy

Re: Thanks Marianne

Congratulations George!  Although I wasn't here when you started posting, I certainly have enjoyed EVERY post I've seen you write in the very brief time that I have been here.

I ache for you in your terrible, terrible loss and I am SO very glad that you have received TRUE comfort from the loving care of some of the incredible people who gather here.  You are a very special person and I think it's just great that you found your way here to some of the very best of what this world has to offer......fellowship, laughter, comraderie, and LOVE.  Here is a big hug from me.  (   smile    )

Keep on posting!!!

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Thanks Marianne

I second that emotion George ( smile smile smile smile smile )

Re: Thanks Marianne

You don't have to thank us George, we did and do it with pleasure: helping and listening to people.
I think it's normal and  necessary. If someone needs help, and we all do, just help. That's all.

Of course George this was and is the best place to do so!!!!!!!!!!

It's nice knowing and meeting and talking to you on the phone and I hope we can go on like this.
I agree on Cathy, she's a very nice. Hope to meet her too at the RAH, after you did...........

A big hug from me

Andre Wittebroek.

Re: Thanks Marianne

George,

I only had the chance to meet you for a very short time before the Paradiso gig, but you had my sympathies right away ... and you did touch my heart like you have surely touched a lot of hearts on this forum.

I have to say that I realized how much happier you seem since a few months - you also shared your witty side with us and I sure hope you continue to do so smile
You´re really the best "tribal-elder" this forum could wish for .... you and our worshipped Queen Cathy. wink

Honestly - I´m also thankful to have met all of you, you´re all just wonderful people!

Re: Thanks Marianne

Must me -liefhebbers- I think.

In Dutch it means -lovers.-

I'm a lover of Joe's music for example. Things you love very much.

Andre's explanation is, of course, spot on. However, a 'liefhebber' is not a 'lover' in the English personal sense, but someone who really likes 'something' in a non personal emotion way, like music or a book or nature. You wouldn't use the word to describe your feelings about a particular lady, for example.

Thanks for the sweet reactions, y'all.

Dear George

This life can be very difficult at times but we all get by ' With a Little Help from our Friends'.

Look forward to meeting you next April.
