Topic: Morecambe - Different Gravy - by a Joe virgin - Dry mouth viewing

OH MY GOD! It was my first Joe gig tonight. I had been pre-warned to prepare for an onslaught, but superglue wouldn't have stopped my socks from being blown off.
In Star Wars terms (light sabre being a guitar), the acoustic part that he played was beyond Yoda standards. I still wonder if he was a machine sent from the future or something!

I wish I had seen him a couple of years ago when he did smaller venues, I was desperate to meet him and get my handbagful of CD sleeves signed. I think he had a lucky escape though, it was afterall Feb 29th and a girl couldn't pass up a leap-year proposal when in the presence of a musical genius now could she?

My mouth was dry watching, as it was hanging open in utter amazement. An experience like this within the circles I move is known as 'different gravy' (as I'm a northerner and gravy's our thing.)

Joe, I think, is THE greatest living guitarist. Is anyone else feeling like this or is it just me?? Help!!

If I'm alive when I'm 99 I'm still gonna be saying, "Remember 4th May 2009 when we saw Joe at the RAH... what a night that was!"

Seems to me like an unusual proportion of recent new members are ladies.

Joe sure has one mean mojo going for him! cool

Welcome RGF. A tip - once official recordings are no longer enough and you feel like a fix of the hard stuff, it's time to start downloading torrents of live gigs. There are loads available so that there's always enough Joe!

Hey RGF.
Just seen your socks flying over our house (in Manchester ) You'll get used to this with Joe,we've seen him three times now and we just don't wear sock's when we go to see him anymore(safety issue ) Took the roof off the Academy last week, just can't get enough at the mo.Have seen em all over the years and he's up there with the best, and better than most of them, glad you enjoyed it.Oh and your right different gravy indeed (and yes it is a northern saying, and say's it all)

Morecambe was a blast, Joe was really on form. I thought that the crowd was a bit too noisy though, especially during the softer parts.

Managed to meet the guy on his tour bus (parked round the corner, had to bang on the door to get in!) and got my CD signed. He was kind enough to let my son get a picture with him as well. Doesn't take much, but he's got another fan for life!

Can't wait for the next tour.

sounds like another one left in amazement.  don't agree with the best guitarist remark.  well i do and don't.  he is great but there are other players at his level, however when i first heard him i thought the same thing.  so i'd say he's amongst the greatest.  i don't think there is just one player who is the best.
