Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

Wow! 20 pages of great ideas I'm sure.  Some duplicates too.  I also am not going to go thru all the suggestions, just give one of my own, When love came to town.  Loved the U2 BB King version & I think Joe could do a killer version.

Brown Sugar by ZZ Top

Just heard that song for the first time in a very long time the other day and it brought back great memories.  Love it.

And "She's 26 in the bust, 38 in the waste, 44 hips, she's got real crazy legs" is appropriate???

I always thought it was 36-28-44? tongue

On the subject of covers, I like "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat", "Led Boots" or "Big Block" by Jeff Beck, or "Stratus" by Billy Cobham. Joe has mentioned doing "Stratus" in sound check before so I know he knows it.

Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

Sorry, was a typo. You are correct. Talk about pear-shaped right? lol

Not a new cover request, but I'd love to hear Joe play "Tea For One" live. Has he ever done this one?

Phil

Yep, Wooders, this song is quite amazing live!  I've heard it twice now, and Jane is correct.... once before the album came out, and once last summer...both times in Indy, both times with Doug on vocals.   Let me see if I have a pic for you.....  I think there's one somewhere in Joe's photo gallery from the IndyRibfest Sept. 07.

edited to add:  page 3 of the photo gallery...Indy Ribfest...I think those last 6 or 7  are mine, including 2 of Doug w/ the band.

indeed.  i was there.  it was really quite phenomenal, the best thing ive ever seen him do.  doug has some pipes too...h really let it all out on that song.  i was so so happy it was played...so if you ever want to see tea for one played basically you go to an indy show and make sure doug isnt on the road...he lives there thats why it gets played there.

Is this the same brown sugar the Stones were talking about?

Totally appropriate Deezer.  Several ZZ Top songs are not about "it" but are perceived as being so....Legs is...Innuendo's abound however...

Yeah, I'm thinking ZZ Top's "Brown Sugar" is about the heroin, as opposed to the Rolling Stone's version which is clearly about all the dark skinned sugar mamas out there.

This thread will not die, it must hold a forum record by now. I'm at the point where Joe can cover whatever he damn well pleases.

Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

Here's a slightly more obsure suggestion - Teaser by Tommy Bolin. Its a quite a rocky funky number but would be a good one to open or close an album.

There's a comment by someone in Denmark on the Facebook group Bonamassa is God who states he spoke to Joe at his gig in Copenhagan last week and Joe said he was going to put a Rory Gallagher song on his new album. I have resisted the temptation to ask out of the blue which one it is.

Obviously it won't be Cradle Rock! Rory recorded so many great songs, so whichever one it is, I'll be happy! smile

Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

About ten miles back on page 7, I threw in my two cents for Rory's "I Wonder Who". I wonder which? "Off The Handle" would be a dandy choice too.
