Topic: Albert King with SRV In Session (LIVE)

Deezer, thought of you today when they played a cut from this on the radio.  They had several call ins afterwards to ask what it was all about.

Re: Albert King with SRV In Session (LIVE)

On the DVD the tremendous love and respect comes through.  There is a spot whwere Albert is actually playing rhythm behind Stevie.  Anybody who knew (anything about) AK, knew how amazing that was.

It took them a while to release it, if memory serves.

It was recorded in 1983, and came out in 1999.

Re: Albert King with SRV In Session (LIVE)

I think I picked that one up about five years ago.  One of my adult students--a big SRV and Albert King fan never knew of the recording.  He was thrilled that it was two of his favorite guitarists together.

I like the part where Albert is referring to SRV's physique when he was young as "straight up like a popsicle stick", if memory serves me correctly.

I've seen some footage of the two greats playing together. I think some of it is on youtube.

Have a look for Matchbox Blues on youtube, both Stevie and Albert are monsters when it comes to the blues.

YUP that's what he said, "... what was it we used to call you, little Stevie?"  "He has the makings of a good fiddler..."
