Topic: Joe's amps and scaled down pedal board

I just saw Joe play at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano and I was close enough to see his pedal board.  He has really scaled it down.

Here is the equipment on his board:
Vox Wah
Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer
Carl Martin Hot Drive & Boost
BOSS DD3 Digital Delay
Lehle Amp Switcher Pedal

Here are the amps he was using:
Fuchs (Upper Left)
Two-Rock (Lower Left)
Park (Upper Right)
Marshall Silver Jubilee (Lower Right)

His tone was incredible!

Re: Joe's amps and scaled down pedal board

so the Budda is long gone huh?

Re: Joe's amps and scaled down pedal board

I think the TS808 is a TS9.

When I saw him a couple of months ago, I think it was definetly a TS-808, but he might have changed it since then...

Yes, it appears that the Budda is long gone.  Like most guitarists (myself included), he appears to have a bad case of G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).  I'm sure this isn't the last time that he changes his amps and effects.

Who knows? One day he might even go back to the Strats.

I wouldn't be surprised. He never answered the question when asked if he would be auctioning off them. smile

Re: Joe's amps and scaled down pedal board

When I talked to him in Springfield about it, he just basically said that he's going through a phase now where he really likes Gibsons. That's what makes me think that one day he'll probably go back. And then switch again, and again, and again.

Re: Joe's amps and scaled down pedal board

I'm sure he will go back to Stratocasters some day.  He's just go through a phase where he needs a heavier sound.  It must be tough to figure out which guitars to play when you have over 180 of them.

Re: Joe's amps and scaled down pedal board

i hope he stays w/ gibson..
his tone is over the top..
strats water him down...

Re: Joe's amps and scaled down pedal board

Strats have  a sparkle of tone, but to me they seem like a Ford Mustang as compared to the Chev. Corvette of a Les Paul.  To me, Les Pauls are more  classy. Neck through bodies an set necks are also the way to go. Jimmy Page coil tapping does the strat trick in a LP...

...while I have to disagree with the idea that an Chevy would go over a Ford, I totally agree about sticking with Les Paul's.
