Topic: Across the pond.... Glasgow The Arches
After seeing Joe and the band on U.S soil many times it was a great experience to see them all perform in the U.K. The Arches is an unusual venue three rooms connected by these archways reminded me of a scene from a Harry Potter movie, the club is situated under the main railway station in Glasgow and was jam packed with Glaswegians as the locals like to be known.
Joe opened up with Bridge to better days which sounded awesome, even in an underground cavern the band sounded amazing. When Joe started playing Mountain Time the sound if his guitar re-verbed off these arches you felt like guitars were coming at you from all angles. This song which has a strong haunting melody sounded unbelievable last night.
The audience who stood there clutching their beer bottles were totally mesmorised by the band. This was an audience which were the baby-boomer group who were spoon fed the blues and were here to see Joe carry on the tradition that a lot of us on this side of the pond had grown up with. I was in the back of the room where some of th audience were singing along with Joe which is a great compliment to the artist performing.
Carmine, Bogie and Rick what can you say about you guys that has not been said before! You guys rock and are the ultimate band to be behind such an awesome guitarist!!
All the songs performed last night Walk in my Shadows, So many Roads, Sloe Gin, Ball peen Hammer, Just got paid, one of these days and Woke Up dreaming I know I am missing one or two songs were just absolute rocking.
What a great experience for me too! The climate is miserable here in the UK cold, rainy and windy but it has not dampened the spirits of Joe and th band in their quest to spread the good word across the UK and Europe.
Thanks guys for an incredible and memorable evening, stay well and keep on rocking!
