Topic: Malmo - tonight

Never seen JB live before and only heard his music for the first time about 2 years ago. Having said that, I'm an old YOUCANTSAYTHATHERE and have seen many of the greats ... Page in Led Zep (first time round), Clapton (in his prime) blah blah. NEVER have I seen a man play guitar like that! I expected a lot, but got far more. He is a total genuis on the guitar, who has a great voice as well. Slo Gin brought me to tears. There were so many wonderful moments. To see him play in such an intimate venue was priceless. I just regret not having tickets for Copenhagen. Thanks JB for an absolutley superb night.

Re: Malmo - tonight

That sounds awesome! Im seeing Joe for the first time tonight in Stockholm:)

Re: Malmo - tonight

First time I saw him too... Was completely blown away (Even though he didn't play a single of the three songs I really really wanted to hear smile).

Best part of the show was when he played the acoustic guitar the second time, alone. That was just.... sick!

Re: Malmo - tonight

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Have yourself a Bonablast in Oslo tomorrow Clause and please do post a review for us all to drool over.  After all, it's been almost a week since he left the UK ...  and we miss him already.

Re: Malmo - tonight

Good evening music lovers!
Past tuesday I travelled down to Malmoe, about 250 km oneway,to check out Joe again.Saw him last year in Gothenburg and I knew I couldn't miss out on this one.
Again,I was floored! The sound was excellent,we were right up in front of Carmine and had a great view of the whole show. The evening went by too fast,I tell you.
The day after ,I had recommended a friend in Stockholm to go see him.I bugged him about it last summer to check JB out at the Norrtalje Blues Festival, but he couldn't make it then. This time though,I received a message on my phone that read : ''I'm totally whacked! This was the best thing i've ever heard, ,thank you for bugging me about Joe!'' He received his first 2 JB CD's in the mail the same day,so he did have a chance to pick up a few of the tunes beforehand.
Just wanted to let you know we nicked another one!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Re: Malmo - tonight

I was there aswell. It was a good show. I missed blues though, he played like two or three blues songs...

Re: Malmo - tonight

It was great to see him again and I think he was returning this summer. I see how you mean, but I would put his songs in two categories. The more bluesy (man of many words, current situation, blues deluxe) and the more rocky (takin the hit, don't burn down that bridge, bridge to better days). He didn't play a single of the 'bluesy songs'. He did play woke up dreaming which was prettey impressive on the acoustic guitar... I got my pickguard signed and a photo with joe and I talked a bit with him. It's funny on stage he seems so big but off stage he is just a dude... Probably the glasses ^^

Welcome falcof to Joe's Forum. I believe you're speaking of "Woke Up Dreaming". Yes, that song just leaves everyone's knees weak. I'l bet it was like this, right?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gTksEJhkzg

Oh yes that was the one. Pretty awesome... smile

Re: Malmo - tonight

Hi everyone!
The concert in Malmoe was a great experience for me but an even greater one for my 11-year old son, Anton. It was his first concert ever! Not a bad start for his future music interest or?
He´s actually too young to attend concerts in Sweden (you have to be 13) but a very nice security guard looked beetween his fingers and let us in. Thank you if you read this!

We had actually bought tickets to the Copenhagen concert to be sure to come in (we saw that concert too), and just went to Kulturbolaget hoping that we could catch Mr Bonamassa before the concert and ask him to sign my son's Fender Stratocaster.
But we couldn´t say no, to see him play in Malmoe too. We stood first row (a kid his age is not so tall so this was the only way to be sure he could see anything).
And me and my son loved it! Great sound (not too loud and not too little bounce from the speakers).

Did he get his guitar signed? Off course! Mr Bonamassa turned out to be one of the most friendly superstars I have met so he gladly signed it.
When my son handed over the guitar, Mr Bonamassa said:
- Cool guitar man! Is it yours?
- Yes. My son answered. :-)

I brought my camera with me and I have some great photos, at least 40-50 pictures that I will share with you as soon as I have brushed them up a little  (both from Malmoe and Copenhagen). I took a photo of the set list too, and will post that too later on.

Here´s a link to my son's guitar page where you can see him, Mr Bonamassa and his Strat called "Frankie".

New here, I hope this wasn't too long

Sune..No Joe story is ever too long. Thank you! Joe is so good to the young ones..He always put an effort into making them happy! He is,in fact, a very kind young man. So happy your son has a lifetime memory to build on..Nice site. Looking forward to the pics..Welcome to Joe world to you and your son!     Cathy
