Re: The Weather!

Well, after the snow, it got back up to 60 degrees yesterday, and now it's snowing again!

Re: The Weather!

Well Jim, in the last 48 hours we've had rain, sleet, hail, wet snow, slightly less wet snow, a little wind, lots of wind, lots of gray, the occasional bit of sun, with temperatures ranging from 0-10 centigrade.

Kind of par for the course for the time of year.

Re: The Weather!

What ,in the name of all things protective against the elements, is a 'bumbershoot'????

Geoff,

I live in Southern California......I can HANDLE the earth moving, believe me!!!  I do own several umbrellas (er, bumbershoots??).....I'll probably need to budget in some UK friendly clothing.  Darn, shopping (oh yeah, it's my favorite sport)!!

I'll be counting on you UK forum friends to help add a little charm and flavor to my English with your colorful phrases!!!

Springtime in London.....raining cats & dogs big_smile Nah, it'll be around 50 to 60 F, the flowers will be in bloom, occasional cloud but dry with a cool night air. There will however be a very heavy blues tinge in the west of London, primarily near the RAH. It may also be a tad rocky but any hint of a local earthquake will be due to a cranked Marshall, a Cat5, a Van Weeden and a Two Rock being pushed to the limit. The sound of a local stampede will be the feet of 5000 fans doing the Joe march!

Re: The Weather!

Bumbershoot is actually an Americanism.  I heard it in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and read it in one of old Frank Baum's books, back in the dark ages.  It's an umbrella crossed with a parachute.  Umberchute lacks force, so bumberchute it is.  Because of the British theme of aforementioned Dick Van Dyke vehicle, many assumed it was a British parlay.

Methinks it should have been called a Parabrella. Mr Van Dyke has a lot to answer for. I'll tell him what he can do with his 'It's a jolly holiday...' if i ever see him smile
