As long as they release an official dvd, I'm cool.
the dvd will be cool but nothing is like the live recording of the show where you get the crowd reaction to the songs . the dvd will be alot of editing and cleaned up where the audience will be cut out and you lose the whole effect of the live recording .that my 3 cents anyway ..don't get me wrong i will be all over the dvd just like i am all over the giants superbowl dvd..........................joe

is it the copy with the schoeps mics . if so that is the copy my buddy phil recorded and it is the same copy i have .......................joe
Yup, it's the same. Just grabbed it in no time, but my ratio is 0.

That's where we differ in opinion. I want the best audio quality possible. You're more of a live show fan than I am though. Oh well
ive been bootlegging shows since 1984 so i have a soft spot for the live audience copies then the soundboards and the offical releases . i do buy all the offical stuff but i like a killer audience show before i listen to a soundboard show . try taking a copy of a soundboard show and the same show grab a killer audience and listen to the both of them the soundboard copy is pretty much flat no peaks no highs and lows just a flat recording . but the audience has a better feel and it has high peaks low peaks and if you close your eyes you can picture beinging at the show ...i guess thats what happens when you have 10,000 live recordings .....joe

i have a copy of the show audio taped from the 20th row in front of the soundboard if anyone needs it ...joe

I have to say that I think Joe's version of 'Had to cry today' knocks this one for six in every respect. I suppose I could be biased. 
I forgot to post the other day... I was at the 2/28 show and it was absolutely wonderful... great setlist... had a blast with friends. 
The bad news is, my friend Keith didn't record it as planned. He was in a rush going out the door and forgot his recorder which was plugged into the wall charging... had his mics and cords and everything else... and he was in his hotel room looking down at an electronics store contemplating spending $400+ just so he could record (after just spending $4500 to upgrade equipment)... but by that time he already had like 8 beers in him and didn't feel like being bothered with all that, lol. 
Oh, and as awesome as both Winwood and Clapton sounded, I gotta agree with Amsterhammer about Joe's version of "Had To Cry Today" being superior!

i just saw winwood and clapton play had to cry today on pbs. it was at some big clapton show in chicago i think. and i have to say im going to respectfully disagree with you on his version being better. both are good, but i gotta tell you the song is made for two guitars. they really ripped it up on this one i honestly didnt even know clapton could still play like that. way to prove me wrong eric. every respect? i also must say winwood's voice is better for the song. not knocking joes version at all. i really don't know which is better but i think saying the cover beats it in every respect is a little excessive.

hmm. actually i just watched joes version. it was better. man czar was a damn fine bassist.
Clapton's presence on guitar was very strong at MSG...if you weren't there, you can't judge his guitar hero status...cool if anyone that was there doesn't agree with me, fine, but...believe me Clapton was really THERE in New York last week, he was in the house and totally connected to his guitar in every way....otherwise...you can go kiss her arse...

With that said, I love both versions of HTCT, but in all due respect, Joe was the ONLY ONE to recognize the power of HTCT, since it had been written 35 years earlier and show the song some respect!!! And that he did...just awesome take on it. Joe just may have gotten Eric and Stevie to really appreciate the song again after many years....it was a killer opener, set the tone for, GET READY TO BE BLOWN AWAY...just my 2 cents of course...:)

Hey Angela, just getting caught up on the forum and great to see that the show at MSG was awesome! We would have really liked to have been there but we already had that week marked off for skiing up in Vermont.
Glad to hear they are going to come out with the DVD. It was a nice taste in Chicago this past summer to see them together again but to see a full show together had to be out of this world!!!

Bear in mind that live versions can differ. I was comparing Joe's version to the one from the MSG last week. You're comparing to a version from last summer (I think).
Anyway, I shouldn't say it's 'better', I should just say that Joe's 'does it' for me in a way the other version doesn't.
I want to make it clear that when I said Joe's version of "Had To Cry Today" is superior, I didn't mean any disrespect to Clapton or Winwood at all... I love theirs too, it's just that Joe's version personally takes me higher. It's the same with "Tea For One"... that's consistantly been one of my favorite and most played Zep songs over the years, but a couple months ago I bought several of Joe's CDs and discovered his version, and I can't get enough of it... as a matter of fact I just got done jamming out to it in the car. At this point, if given a choice of listening to either version, I'd pick Joe's in a heartbeat, no disrespect to Zep or Page... his version just takes me higher. Maybe Joe's just a better guitarist, or maybe it's that he has breathed new life into these songs, I don't know. I'd love to hear him play "Tea For One" live sometime.
Also, as someone who was at MSG, I wholeheartedly agree with Angela's thoughts on Clapton, and that "Had To Cry Today" was a perfect opener to set the tone. Also Winwood was just as top of his game as he ever was, both musically and vocally. An altogether wonderful show!

Apples and oranges...that's why. They're two different types of bass players. It sounds to me like Carmine is freakin' amazing.
I love that intro also Suhl. That was a great song for Joe to cover. It was nice to see Steve and Eric team up again.
A Clapton fan pointed out this magazine, Relix. I've never read it before, but thought this article was great. Between this article and Steve Winwood being the featured story "Voice of a Guitar Great" and on the cover of June's Vintage Guitar, I learned a few things. Amazingly, many years passed between these two guys and lots of stuff was left unsaid. Winwood revealed that when he read Clapton's book it simply cleared up so many things back to the Blind Faith days and he never realized Clapton starting playing a strat because of him. The Vintage Guitar mag has an extensive interview and covers Winwood's entire career & lots of gear stories...guitars that were available in the UK back in the 50' and 60's, Stevie has had most of his vintage gear stolen over the years. Gibson recently gave Steve a dark green reiusse Firebird at the unveiling of his new album, Nine Lives. Also, Steve makes a nice mention about Robben Ford, who is making a rare appearance on the east coast and I am really excited to be seeing soon. And Vintage does a nice story about Jeff Healy (RIP).
