Topic: Rod Stewart making Blues album

At first I was going to post this under Dino's Black Keys thread then thought differently...

Yesterday I was reading the latest issue of Rolling Stone in a doctor's waiting room, my copy hasn't come yet...BUT Rod Stewart is in this issue talking about wanting to make a blues album and reaching out to the Black Keys and saying, I wonder if they know who I am???? Can you imagine that, reaching out to someone Rod's not even sure knows who he is????

Hello...pattyluvsjoe...why doesn't Rod know about Joe...channel your love girlfriend and get on it before Rod commits...quote all the good stuff Joe has said about Rod...why not make an album with somebody that already loves ya, then talk someone into it...go back to Truth, covering Blues Deluxe...consider this a dose of therapy from me to you...guaranteed to take your mind off things...I even think Joe would give you more than one bear hug...:)

pattyluvsjoe to Angela...okay girlfriend, I started channeling the love and looking at Rod sites AND THEN THE LIGHTBULB WENT OFF......DUH.....GUESS WHO'S BASS PLAYER USE TO BE ROD STEWART'S BASS PLAYER??????  OUR VERY OWN CARMINE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO SOME COMMUNICATING ON THIS.  BigJeffJones you have a mission to propose to Carmine.  I can write Rod's record label, but I got a feeling it probably won't get me far.  Carmine has got to be the man with the connections.  Joe & Rod together....well, I really would feel like I'd died and gone to heaven.........Does thinking of this still qualify me for more than one bear hug???  (lol lol lol lol)

ME?  NO WAY?  That would be a terrible move for them all.  I mean they don't sing alike.  Joe was never inspired by Rod.  I mean get real!  British Blues?  The young and the old?  Who ya kidding?  That'll never work.  Who thinks this stuff up?

This is the right thread.

I've got the DVD of Rod @ Royal Albert Hall. Very, very good. Ronnie Wood was guest, plus a very talented young Amy Belle.  Guest appearance, now that would be sweet.  I've seen the bloke a couple of times and last time got to give him flowers and he bowed to me.....This is like RUN WILD WITH IDEAS WEEK here on the old forum.  Cartwheeling around the room...........................................pattyluvsjoe....thanks mucho Jeff ?

Joe's not the only genius around here.  smile

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Rod The Mod....he's a good 'un. Not sure about that crooning stuff he's been pushing out lately. Give me the Three Button Hand Me Down anyday of the week.

Re: Rod Stewart making Blues album

It is really coincidental that I would just read about Rod wanting to get back to the Blues...I got the feeling he didn't know where to turn in regards to a blues band...who knows...  You think the man realizes Joe has covered his song??  I wonder...Jeff, I think you should work that mojo you're always teasing us with...;)  Who can answer this Carmine question...the other day Let's Dance came on sirius in the car, I'm still a big Bowie fan..was that Carmine era??  "Let's dance put on your red shoes and dance the blues"

Re: Rod Stewart making Blues album

One of my top ten desert island records is a Rod Stewart record.  From a long time ago, called "The Rod Stewart Album".

http://www.amazon.com/Rod-Stewart-Album … amp;sr=8-1

It is an amazing display of vocal stylings.  When Rod sings, he sings so well.

His voice is emotive, and supple, and so very strong as he has taken it seriously as an older man.

If you can call the greatest guitar player on the planet, Jeff Beck, and ask him to come over for eggs, he might want to do a song or two.

If memory serves..83 was not a good year for me.  Carmine played bass on that album.  Tony Thompson played drums and Stevie Ray played some lead...but I could be wrong.  I don't know anybody else...oh maybe, Niles (uh oh Brainfart).

I remember reading that Stevie got really upset when Bowie was playing his guitar parts in the video.

Re: Rod Stewart making Blues album

To date the only Bowie album I own. It was one of the first CD's I bought when I went digital. There wern't very many to chose from back then. I bought because Stevie was on it but liked the album. New Carmine's name from that album. I read liner notes. That is why I-tunes sucks a little.

I had a run of bass players come through the club I booked last year starting with Stu Hamm, Jeff Berlin, Billy Sheehan, Roscoe Beck and ending with Carmine. Carmine signed a bass "let's dance". Bass players all over town were in heaven.

Re: Rod Stewart making Blues album

If Rodney can recapture the magic he worked with the Faces then that would be fantastic but I'm not so sure he can.

Anyway I thought he was a fan of the "greens" not the blues.

FOR INFO: That last comment is a reference to Rod's favourite football(soccer) team, Glasgow Celtic. Glasgow Rangers being the Blues.

I know who I like.
