Topic: Not to get anyone's hopes up...

But there was a video on MAXIM featuring Kenny Wayne Shepherd where he says he's working on a new album and that it will come out in late 2008, if I remember correctly. I just hope it's not his last one that took FOREVER to come out. Here's to hoping. Can't wait to see where he's going to go after going all-rock (The Place You're In) and all-blues (10 Days Out).

Re: Not to get anyone's hopes up...

Hopefully he has shelved his "I should try to do vocals" experiment and let Noah do what he does best.

Gibson 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Reissue, Gibson LP Standard Faded CSB, Gibson Gary Moore LP Standard, Epi Joe Bonamassa GT LP, Epi Zakk Wylde LP, Dean Michael Schenker Flying V, Jackson Randy Rhoads V, ESP/LTD George Lynch Kamikaze, EVH Striped Series R/B/W, Fender/Squire John 5 Telecaster, Fender Joe Strummer Relic Telecaster

Re: Not to get anyone's hopes up...

If I remember correctly, he sang those because they were really personal songs. Anyways, for what it's worth, I like his singing, but actually would like to see Noah do more singing. But I wouldn't mind a couple of vocal outings from KWS.

I thought his singing on The Place Youre In was pretty good. Not as good as Noah, but didnt detract from the songs.

Thanks Deezer.

I don't care if it's Kenny or Noah on vocals, they both sound very different and I like what they both bring to the music.  I especially liked their collaboration on "Let Go".  I actually wish that one would have made it on the radio.  I believe it would have been better perceived than "The Place You're In"--at least on our local stations.

Speaking of KWS, I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to.  Does Kenny sing on "Riverside" from Ledbetter Heights?  Anyone know?

i think riverside was the singer on that album, Kenny might have done backups.  He definately does backups for those older records.

Re: Not to get anyone's hopes up...

Yes, Kenny is the singer on Riverside. His only lead vocal until The Place You're In.

Re: Not to get anyone's hopes up...

Kenny and the boys played Vegas this last weekend at the Showroon in the Orleans Casino/Hotel. A 500 set venue with decent accoustics and theatre seating. This was the first time I have seen KWS live and I must say I was impressed.

The band played straight through for a good hour and a half with Kenny switching between what looked like two Strats and bringing out a reverse headstock beauty for the last song on a well deserved encore, which was Voodoo Chile (that song along with all the others just smoked).

The band was tight and the sound excellent. It looked like Kenny was using a brace of Fender amps, but I could not see what model.

They tore through some blues, blazing rock and everything in between including a cover of Oh Well from Fleetwood Mac, which was absolutely killer.

If you get the opportunity to go see the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, do it. I think any fan of Joes will appreciate Kenny's efforts. Great guitar work and excellent vocals from Noah.

Re: Not to get anyone's hopes up...

I would bet on Fall 2009.  I love KWS but nobody is worse at keeping their date or even getting anywhere close.  And I agree, Let Go is the best song from his last studio album...they sound much better together than Kenny does alone.

He's playing Dallas House of Blues April 25th - hopefully a summer tour coming up.

I agree with ya on KWS keeping a date. The last two releases, the wait has be unbelieveable. I remember the release date for The Place You're In getting pushed back like 6 times.
