Re: GLASGOW

Oh my Michael you've made me feel like I'm right there, you've outdone yourself this time! I like the way the stage is set up. It's good to see everyone, especially Rick. Maybe it's just me but I can hear the keys a lot better also.  Thank you so much and I hope you feel better soon.

Re: GLASGOW

Michael, Michael, Michael....Amazing,brilliant.....job well done.....I maximize the screen and it seems like one's own personal show......next best thing to standing right next to you ?

Loved the scenery of Glasgow (esp. bridge) before Bridge to Better Days and who can't help but feel the electricity and excitement before Joe comes out on the stage, always have loved that minute the lights drop and the anticipation of our hero Joe walking out.

Re: GLASGOW

Excellent stuff Michael

Sorry I missed you and trdb last night but it was truly wonderful stuff from Joe and the guys. What did you think of Joe singing without the mic? He must have been to see Tony Bennett because that is one of his showpieces. Anyhoo great videos, keep up the good work and hurry back to Glasgow.

Cheers

Re: GLASGOW

Sorry folks, I thought the show was gash.

I've obviously been listening to the wrong albums coz I was expecting much more blues from JB last night.

Instead I had to suffer the kind of self-indulgent rock that killed the industry & made punk rock inevitable (& necessary) in the late 70's.

10 minute guitar solos with 1 minute of song in between. For sure he's a technically accomplished guitar player & he showed us that with his elongated acoustic solo.

But it was just showing off - "look what I can do with a guitar". There was no soul there. Guitar porn if you like.

An excellent technical guitarist but Stevie Ray Vaughan he ain't.

Dude, He's not trying to be SRV.  He's "Joe Bonamassa".  I watched the videos and didn't hear a 10 minute guitar solo, but I would love to because he is an amazing guitarist.  Guitar porn?  I think I would call it Guitar Brilliance!!!  At least it is to my ears.  I'm sorry you didn't like him, but there are certainly enough of us who do, with more and more to follow every day.

Re: GLASGOW

OK cpt..Don't know who you are and have learned to not let my buttons be pushed...Maybe you are the one w/out soul..or are you ANOTHER blues snob who feels he has the right to define the genre! I would be in heaven with 10min guitar solos!! Showing off? A concert by any musician is essentially them showing off their best skills. That's what we pay for. What's SRV got to do with it? Anyway, sorry it wasn't to your liking and shame a real fan didn't get  your ticket to the sold out show. Peace to you and my sympathies....   Cathy

Re: GLASGOW

yeah what does srv got to do with it.  and since you bring him up, i don't know if we are talking about the same person but the man wasn't what i'd call a lyrical poet.  pretty much all his soul was expressed through the guitar.  that srv he aint remark really sums it all up.  the good thing about the great ones is that they are one of a kind.  you want to hear the songs as they are played on the album, why bother paying for a concert ticket?  just listen to the album and have a beer.

Re: GLASGOW

I agree with Roy, Joe is like a personal friend and that's the best bit of the gig cos that's how he makes everyone feel on the night. That is, except for the odd sad, like the sound of my own views person, who hopefully doesn't come back. Roll on the next tour!!

Re: GLASGOW

The guy had his say. There appear to be purists across the pond just like here. An opinion like Spaldings won't ruffle Joe's feathers he has heard critiques like this before. We all of course disagree with his assesment. For whatever reason he made the effort to share his opinion with us we can only guess. This statement will be his last. Sorry you thought you were misled spalding but I really think Joe at this time is bluesier than in the past.

Re: GLASGOW

As I watched the video of So Many Roads I couldn't help but think of how Joe seems more focused than even on choosing his notes carefully and letting each one have its say as he totally bares his soul. Clearly Capt. Spalding either didn't really go to the show and likes to just cruise forums and stir the pot (a really sleazy pasttime) or he himself has lost touch with his own soul and can't resonate with what Joe is doing. I hope it's the later and not the former because that way there's still hope.

Blessings,
Larry
