Re: Stoney Curtis Band

not to be an a hole but i mentioned these guys months ago and have been listening to them for awhile.  but then i didnt make a thread.  they are very very good.  if you ever buy a blues album on amazon they are recommended on the spot.    so basically im agreeing with you a very quality band.  one of many great blues acts in america that don't do anything but local and european shows.  these guys are number three for me to see after craig erickson and lance lopez.  they are great, in my personal view craig erickson is the best guitarist alive.  well i won't say best that's subjective but hes my favorite.

i have both albums acid blues experience and raw and real.  love em.  like with all the great blues guys outside of joe id love to see them live but i always look they don't tour outside of the west.  curse the american music scene.

I agree with you, he is very good, the more you listen, the better it gets.
In June he is playing in Germany.

7th June  Koeln -kantine.

Don't know more dates yet but he will do more shows in UK, Holland and Germany. Will not come to europe for 2 shows!!
I made a Cd from the Rockpalast DVD,  I sent you last fall, for in the car like Joe I like him live the most.
people, there is no DVD out from him, I recorded the Rockpalast TV show direct on DVD myself.

If anyone is interested I can send you a copy too. Will last a few weeks, my computer was broken but it works again, only the burning shrink? programs are gone and this weekend they put it on again, they said.

4th of JUly, I'm going to see John Mayall in Hellendoorn

His guitarist Buddy Whittington has just released his first solo Cd. very good critics!

Re: Stoney Curtis Band

I picked up Stoney Curtis' disc on Amazon...it does come right up....and I felt the urge to buy it....very good stuff.

I also have recently picked up the new Gwyn Ashton CD, that features Ted Mckenna(ex MSG and Rory Gallagher) on drums and Chris Glenn (ex MSG) on bass and Don Airey(ex Every freakin' band around)on keys.  Great version of Rory's "Secret Agent"  Well worth picking up this disc.  Also, grabbed Julian Sas' live disc.  Great tone and very tight band.  I heard of these two artists from Classic Rock on the sample blues disc they put out several months ago.  The disc also included Joe, Gary Moore, Rose Hill Drive, John Mayall, Otis Taylor, Peter Green, Marc Ford and several others.  Classic Rock is an aewsome magazine....and they LOVE Joe B

Re: Stoney Curtis Band

Thanks for the videos Michael. I only listened to a few because of my streaming issues. I like wicked guitar! Here's another example of a band too rock for the purists. Pg76 of the new Blues Review..calls Raw and Real....."on this rock (almost metal) album."Black Rose" and "Sometimes She Likes Me" could be Motley Crue out-takes, while tuneless "Girlfriend" gives funk a bad name"..... The war continues!     Cathy

Re: Stoney Curtis Band

people need to not get so damn  hung up on what to label the music.  so it isnt strictly blues so it isn't good.  who even cares what category you want to stick it into.  for me when it comes to whether i like it or not there are two, good and bad.  i use the names when describing a band and would call them a blues rock band but if someone wanted to argue it with me id just let them have it because at the end of the day the music is unchanged no matter what you label it.  you'd think by now these critics would have heard the phrase a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but apparently they have not and never will.

Re: Stoney Curtis Band

i have to tell you i have been jamming this live album...stoney is the real deal.  i'd actually say he is my favorite player going right now.  i said craig erickson before and while he has some really monster songs and i truly believe his album shine is in contention for the best display of electric guitar work ever, he has a lot of work that is just ok.  every single one of curtis's songs is just rockin as hell.  his live album...wow its outta this world.  if you like your blues rock heavy...damn hes good.  anyone thinking twice on this one...don't
