Topic: Dave Clark Five Lead Vocalist Dies

Less than 2 weeks before being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame :

Not blues rock, but sad nonetheless...and worthy of a mention.

I think the first 45 I ever bought as a wee lass was "Catch Us If You Can".  I assume the induction will proceed posthumously - it's a shame he won't be there to accept the honor - but I'm sure it will still be a very meaningful celebration to his family and friends.

P. S.  Keith - did you see what I added on your Buddy Miles thread?  The long quote from Jimi Hendrix?  I emailed you about it......

Re: Dave Clark Five Lead Vocalist Dies

Sad news, especially being just two weeks from the induction into the R&R Hall of Fame, which was long overdue. Glad All Over was my first LP I got at Xmas in I think  '64 because the Beatles were all sold out. I loved it nonetheless and still have it to this day in my vinyl stacks.

Re: Dave Clark Five Lead Vocalist Dies

They should have been inducted last year, but Jann Wenner, in his infinite wisdom, despite the DC5 receiving more votes, in a move to appear "hip" decided to induct rappers Grandmaster Flash instead.

Yes Libby I saw that on the Miles thread. You know, Jim McCarty of Cactus was in the Buddy Miles Express before joining Cactus, and is the guitarist on the album you mentioned.

Re: Dave Clark Five Lead Vocalist Dies

I think I'd say Jan Wenner's first act of infinite wisdom was moving Rolling Stone to New York from it's original home here in San Francisco. It's no wonder it evolved into a fashion magazine. Thank God the forum has Dino for some actual rock journalism. Go ahead D-Man tell us you RULE!!!!!

Re: Dave Clark Five Lead Vocalist Dies

That sucks, especially right before they're about to be inducted.

So much to learn Keith, so much to learn.  I am a willing and appreciative student.  I don't remember ever having this much fun when I was in school (at least not when I was IN the classroom)!  Thanks -
