Sounds the most sensible solution to me too!

Seriously, I have a friend who is a sound technician for Dutch radio, will see if he can lend me something to record with - if so, I'll be taping on March 13 in Heerhugowaard (wrap your gob around that lol)

Re: all the shows in europe and no records out there

I would have expected at least a couple more. Maybe they have yet to make them available.

Re: all the shows in europe and no records out there

if you want to chip in and send me out for shows i am all over that . i will travel anywhere to record a show and if someone else is paying thats even better . so get it going and i will find the next plane over there .....joe

Hey bud, I'm not sure Europe is ready for you. We don't want an International incident, do we? Besides, Big George has had that covered for nearly 8 years now, International incidents that is. Damn, I just got political! big_smile

Re: all the shows in europe and no records out there

Joe, it looks like all I can get hold of is a mini-disc recorder. Is that worth doing? Is the quality acceptable. Talk to me, dude.

Re: all the shows in europe and no records out there

mini disc sucks . the discs are only 74 minutes so you always have to cut a song and the sound sucks from those things . i would go with  a  Zoom H2 Portable 2-Track SD Recorder or a Korg MR1 1-Bit 2.6MHz Mobile Field Recorder or go to this page and scroll through the pages  http://www.zzounds.com/prodsearch?q=por … ialphrase.  they have some good small hand held recorders that are ten times better then the mini disc . if you have to use the mini disc then use it to get the recording just make sure you have a battery pack that powers the mics if you use the power from the mini disc recorder it will drain out in about 30 minutes also the mini disc comes with a extra power pack that clips on the mini disc recorder which will give you enough power for the whole show . if you do use the mini disc it takes time to load in the new disc so look to switch the disc anytime you have a opening after 60 minutes don't wait untill the disc is full because most likely you will cut a song . better you cut joe talking then cut the music or even better you make the switch inbetween tunes but joe is pretty quick in between tunes so most likley you will have to cut him talking .....any questions feel free to ask ....joe

Thanks for the input. Remember, I'm not a professional taper, I'm a taping virgin. big_smile

Re: all the shows in europe and no records out there

Agreed, the MD sucks.  I like my Roland Edirol R-09 and will be getting a Sony D-50 for the Digital Input.

Re: all the shows in europe and no records out there

With the zoom h2 dow e use the built in mics or external, if external what type? I am thinking of giving this a go at a UK concert. I am thinking of mounting this on my sons wheelchair does that sound line a good idea? I see they take SD cards how much recording time would I get out of a 4gig card assuming high quality setting.

Re: all the shows in europe and no records out there

Joebeacon,

Even though Joe has an open taping policy, many venues overseas from us are VERY anti-taping, no matter what the artist policy is, so that is why you don't see as many recordings.
