Topic: postman rings twice....so to speak.

Hi
Finding my way round, I figured I muscled into the middle of a thread rather than ....rang the bell, and wiped my muddy feet on the welcome mat.
As posted my name is Tony , I live in the uk,and ......the earth has moved twice for me!(yes really.......)once, last night ??
God love us.....We had an earthquake!!! at 1am(gmt) Anymore 5.2`s and we in England will have one more thing in common with Southern California. The initial earthshaking ,was of course listening to Mr Bonamassa, and having the great pleasure of watching him play.
Los Angeles! one earthshaker who puts tremors up your spine `we`re`happy to accomodate, the other....I like my home rocked BUT.......
Any advice on the best Bonamassa tunes to play....at such a crisis?
Tea for one maybe....?

Re: postman rings twice....so to speak.

Welcome Tfor1.  Nice name you've picked out there for yourself.  You know Joe lives here in So. Cal.  so, maybe the earth just knew it needed to shake for him over there so he wouldn't get homesick!

So glad you've joined us Tony, and that you had a great time seeing Mr. B.!  Hang around.  We're a fun group!!

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: postman rings twice....so to speak.

Thank you for the response Libby...... Lets see ;-)
In truth I only had Sloe Gin, since Rock city I have been Catching Up on MR B`s back catalogue. This Track not only playing with apt words, has shades of Jimmy Page, though Not a huge Zep Fan; a blossoming fan of Page`s contribution to some of the best Damn blues guitar riffs, and staggering solo`s. Jason Bonham played drums in the recording of Joes appreciation of this almost unheard of track.
Sorry...I am taking my anorak off now.

Re: postman rings twice....so to speak.

I think Joe has recorded Tea for one, can't remember which album it's on now, can someone refresh my memory?

It's on "You and Me" Geoff. Listened to it for the first time last night. S'not as easily accessible as "Sloe Gin" I must admit but a definite grower for sure.

Well, here I go again, but, there is no bad Joe. I adore You and Me...great CD! I am admittedly crazy for long soloes so I love ANDY Live and Blues Deluxe..Then there's the total package of SILT...In other words, you need them all!  Welcome Newbies, enjoy the ride!     Cathy

Re: postman rings twice....so to speak.

I have to agree with Cathy on this one..........there is no bad Joe CD.  The best part of having all of his CD's is you get such a wide range to listen to.  I have certain moods that will only be satisfied listening to SILT, or ANDY, or you and me, or sloe gin......I love that part the best, all of them have something different to offer a listener.  Then there are the live recordings that give a new edge to the studio recordings..........

I could go on and on!

welcome to the forum, have fun!!

Re: postman rings twice....so to speak.

I think you're right there. I guess I was still in a "Sloe Gin" frame of mind when I started listening to it, and it just wasn't the instant gratification I was expecting. I've listened to it twice at work today though, and it improves each time.

It's a great ride for sure and I've had great fun so far talking to you guys. It's nice as a newbie to be embraced by one's brethren!! smile

Re: postman rings twice....so to speak.

I `d like to be a bit critical, just for a bit of flavour....I hooked into "Sloe Gin", and generally liked everything. Except `Seagulls... waiting to be shot down`(??). Now I am sorry ,no matter how I `read` this song, with it`s affinity with loneliness, and quietly absorbed poetry. The mental image of a worried Seagull flying in a bluesy sky....expecting gunfire from an open shoreline, is not one that settles easy with me.
AM I misled, or just being pedantic?
