Re: ex Hendrix Drummer Buddy Miles RIP

It seems much too brief, but what a FULL LIFE he led.

I just pulled the album Buddy Miles Express "Expressway to Your Skull" out of the closet.  I've got it spinnin' right now.

Inside the album cover I found this, from Jimi Hendrix......

"THEY TOOK AN EXPRESS straight to the Electric Church.  Many times we come across this scene:  A brother and cousin emptying their burdens a little ways on down the railroad tracks the bro'...kicking a can...trying to kick out his blues and jealous hues and in his back pocket he carries a bootfull of raw violent silk but sometimes frustration spills from his house of pain and feeds the weeds around his yard....fat to the bone they grow as they attempt to crawl toward his all... But he doesn't have to even cry...Because his natural soul shall be washed soon....And he knows.....and taps his cousin on the shoulder who was aware of the rumbling tracks....Shaking his Head, Heart, and feet...And the Brother and cousin say without speaking a word..."I can really see those tracks swaying", THE EXPRESS has made the bend, He is coming on down the tracks.  Shaking steady...shaking-funk...Shaking FEELING - Shaking LIFE - "Buddy Miles EXPRESS is hero" cries them both...the cousins say..."Yes bro'...I am with you...But where we going?"  The conductor says as they climbed aboard "small we are going to the Electric Church..."  the Buddy Miles EXPRESS took them away...and they lived and heard happily and funkily ever after.  and uh...excuse me...But I think I hear my train coming    "      Jimi Hendrix

Sad news...he made a ton of great music.  Them Changes will always be one of my favorite songs...

No matter how well you know someone, you can only ever guess.  How can you ever really know somebody else? It takes more than a lifetime just to get to know yourself.  Nobody knows the meaning of loneliness.  - Van Morrison

I was 18 the first time I heard Band of Gypsies, Live at the Filmore.  The first couple of times I wasn't sure about it.  But playing Backgammon and huffing down some herb w/ a couple "buddies" with it playing in the background it REALLY grew on me.  It became one of the CLASSIC live albums of all time to me.  Machine Gun and Who Knows were unreal....Them Changes and Message of Love were outstanding too.  A Hendrix album to beat all Hendrix albums.....check it out if you have not heard it....very influential in it's day, too, with Viet Nam and all....
