Re: The Weather!

Man I dont know how any of you living in that cold weather survive...I'd be crying for mommy when the first winter storm hit...I hear we'll be in the low 70's by Thurs...did I mention to you that I got some questionable "sun spots" that the doctor needs to examine...sun screen from now on, I got enough problems in my life

Re: The Weather!

I think that people living in California should be banned from posting about weather.

Especially in the winter.

Okay, okay, I just thought you guys would like to know that the weather is nice SOMEWHERE!!!  I'm like Dave, I'd be calling out for MY Mommy if I were spending the winter in the snow.  Been there, done that, don't wanna go back.

You gotta cut me some slack now 'cause I'll be paying my dues at a later date.....all summer long when it ranges from 100-128 in my neck of the woods (more like forest of cacti), with the occasional monsoonal humidity sneaking up from Mexico .  No joke.  That's why I usually escape to Laguna as often as possible.  But that's another story.

Hope everyone is bundling up and staying healthy!!!

When do we get a break in Kansas?  In the summer it gets to be 100-125 or so.  Sometimes a very wet, humid, Vietnam-like heat, sometimes dry blast furnace-like heat.

Ahh but then there are those beautiful days that sneek in every once in a while where you can see for miles and miles in any direction and the sky is so clear you can taste it....

You know Monty, you are really good with words. Are you really 25? I think you have writing skills! Just wanted to say that....Cathy

No, I'm 21, actually.

I've always had somewhat of an advanced lexicon for my age.

I blame it on reading JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit when I was in second grade.

And thank you for the compliment Cathy.

When I was on the road in 74 I flew in to Kansas,,,no maybe it was Kerney, Nebraska.  I looked out the window and saw fields gently swaying.  I thought, wow a nice cool breeze.  When she opened the plane door for me to step out on the Tarmac, I used that exact descriptive phrase...&^%$#*!@ blast furnace.

I think I was 20 then.

Funny you should say that as a Floridian, Jeff.

I flew into Miami for my father's funeral in July '83 and almost certainly used the same stream of expletives when I passed through the terminal doors into the street. I literally felt as if a damp, hot sheet had been thrown over me. It was the most suffocating, humid heat I've ever experienced - and I've been to some pretty hot places.

I think I'd rather complain about my weather here. wink

Yup.  If it is extreme weather, we have it here in Kansas.  I feel like I could easily adjust to any climate if need be.

I'll tell ya, the worst part is the damn wind.  Since Kansas is so flat, there isn't much to block it and it can be pretty brutal at times.

No but I bet it gets pretty close.  Particularly Western Kansas.

Yeah FLA is a hot wet suffocating blanket.  That hot plains wind just was too dry.  I turned to ash.

Having been in Cali most of my life..I never realized how good the weather was until I went to see my father in South Carolina when I was fifteen...it was the middle of summer...my brother and I were miserable...couldnt wait to get the hell outta that state!...the old man talked me into staying through winter time though, I bailed on him as soon as it went down to 20 degrees..."dad, I want to go back to Cali...I hate the weather here"....pops started sniveling up on me, hell I didnt care, I was going home

Well it was 30 yesterday morn and 41 this morn.  I'm on my Bike today.  It is the first day of Bike Week y'all.  I guess I'll go out and commiserate with the sinners.
