Topic: Pacific Road Birkenhead

Hi to you all you Bonamaniacs out there.
Well, what can I say. I had my Bonapaptism at Pacific Road in 2006 and it was the most exciting gig I had ever been to. So it was great to be back there for my fourth JB experience. It was a great night. The set list has already been given so I won't repeat it but I really enjoyed Walk in My Shadows So Many Roads Sloe Gin and of course Woke Up Dreaming which seems to get faster and faster.
The whole band were great but no drum solo this time.
Joe mentioned the fact that he is number 22 in the 'English Pop Charts' which he was really tickled about. He said " in celebration of my new pop status I am going to play you this song..". I thought he was going to play a Take That song! much to my relief he played One Of These Days which I recorded. Also recorded So Many Roads which was brill. If I can work it out I'll post them on You Tube.(Have to get son's help maybe).
The lighting wasn't very good, as Geoff said. I can't get any decent pictures when the lights are red. Is it me? But the sound was great which is more important.
Even with two encores of two songs each the time just flew by and soon the lights were up and we were all left buzzin'.
Of course some of us hung around to see Joe afterwards and he came out after about 20 minutes. He'd changed into a blue shirt with his name 'Joe B' on the front and a baseball cap. Made him look much younger (suddenly realised I am old enough to be his mother! Funny thing is I feel like a teenager again!!). Anyway I got a signed set list and my sister asked him to sign the sleeve of her jacket. He thought she was a bit weird cos she was wearing a black leather jacket and the pen was black (she had drank a few lemonades!)
Then I asked him about the gig at the Royal Albert Hall. He said it was set for May 4th 2009.
When I asked him how much the tickets will cost we thought he said £120!!! What he actually said was "UNDER £20". I nearly fell on the floor. What a guy. He is soooo good to us.
So once again a huge thank you to Joe,Bogey,Carmine and Rick for another stellar performance. Can't wait for next Tuesday in Leeds.

Welcome to the forum.  Glad you had such a great time, during and after the show with Joe.  Did he really confirm the RAH 5/4/09 gig??  There are many forum members who will want to start making plans!

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Thanks for the story Tripsy! Don't worry, Joe has many potential Moms on this forum! And, with all the years he has toured, I'm certain he's seen things that make the word weird seem inadequate! RAH..Guess we'll see you next May!!    Cathy

Thanks Libby,
He did seem quite certain about RAH but if I get the chance I will ask him again on Tuesday if it has been confirmed for definite. I'll let you know what he says.
I'm in the process of uploading a video onto You Tube. It's taking forever! I did manage to do it all by myself so far. Finger's crossed. Also I must say in advance that it is strictly amateur with quite a few back's of heads included but I tried!

Hey Cathy
Even my Mum who's 80 has a copy of You & Me which she listens to. I guess good music keeps you young at heart. It certainly puts a smile on my face every day. It's going to be a helluva time in May 09. London won't know what's hit it!

Isn't "She who Must Be Obeyed" a fan? Maybe it would be easier to convert her in 15 months than it would be for you to be good for 15 months. On the other hand if you were very bad she could kick you out and then you could please yourself! What am I saying? I take back that last suggestion. That was a bit naughty and not very sisterly. I'd work on the conversion if I were you but the only problem then is having to pay for two of you to come over! You've got your work cut out man.
